Check if Website Is Adult

Need to know whether a domain counts as an adult website? Paste the domain or a full URL and this checker looks it up against Cloudflare Family DNS, the same filter that many households and offices use. The result tells you if the site is listed as adult, listed as malware or phishing, not listed at all, or not registered. No signup and no software.

What Is the Check if Website Is Adult Tool?

Check if Website Is Adult is a free lookup that tells you whether a domain is classified as an adult website. You enter a domain or paste a full link, and the tool queries Cloudflare Family DNS, a public filtering resolver that withholds the real address of domains in its adult content and malware categories. By comparing the answers of three resolvers, the tool does more than a simple blocked or not blocked check. It separates domains that are blocked for adult content from domains that are blocked for security reasons, and it tells you when a domain does not exist at all.

That separation matters. A plain blocked flag could mean pornography, or it could mean a phishing page that has nothing to do with adult content. The tool gives you the right label so you do not draw the wrong conclusion about a site.

Who Uses This Lookup

  • Webmasters and bloggers who want to check a site before linking to it, accepting a guest post from it, or running an ad exchange with it.
  • Marketers and affiliate managers who need to keep a brand away from adult placements.
  • Community moderators who review submitted links on forums, Discord servers and comment sections.
  • IT administrators who decide whether a domain belongs on a school or office block list.
  • Researchers and journalists who need a repeatable, neutral way to see how a public filter classifies a domain.
  • Everyday users who simply want to know what a domain is before they open it.

What the Tool Reports

The result box shows one of four headline outcomes and three supporting lines.

  • Listed as an adult website. Cloudflare Family DNS blocks the domain, and the security resolver does not. The domain sits in the adult content category.
  • Blocked as malware or phishing. The security resolver blocks the domain, so the block is about security, not adult content. The tool shows this clearly so the two are never confused.
  • Not listed as adult. Neither filtered resolver blocks the domain and the domain resolves normally.
  • Website not found. The unfiltered resolver reports that the domain does not exist, so there is nothing to classify.

Below the headline, three lines show the adult content filter result, the malware and phishing filter result, and whether the domain resolves. You can read them at a glance as Blocked or Not blocked, and Yes or No.

How to Use the Tool

  1. Copy the website address. A bare domain, a full URL, or a link copied from a browser all work.
  2. Paste it into the box under Is this website an adult site.
  3. Press Check Website or press Enter.
  4. Wait a moment while the three DNS lookups run. Most checks finish in about a second or two.
  5. Read the headline outcome and the three lines below it.
  6. If the result matters for a decision, such as a block list entry, repeat the check later, because classifications are updated over time.

What Happens to the Address You Enter

The tool normalises what you type. It lowercases the text, removes the protocol such as https, removes any login details, path, query string and port number, and strips a leading www. It then checks that what is left looks like a valid domain name. Raw IP addresses are rejected, because DNS filtering works on names. International domain names are converted to their standard ASCII form when the server supports it. The domain is sent to the DNS resolvers from our server, results are held for one hour, and each visitor can make up to 30 checks per minute.

Understanding the Adult Category

Filtering providers decide what counts as adult content using their own classification methods, which combine automated crawling with reports and lists. The adult category usually covers sites whose main purpose is pornography or sexually explicit material. It does not usually cover sex education, health information, or news about relationships, although borderline cases exist and different providers draw lines in different places. This tool reports what Cloudflare Family DNS does, not what any court, regulator or other provider would decide. If you need a legal ruling or an age verification judgement, a domain lookup is only a starting point.

When This Tool Is Useful

  • Vetting a backlink partner or sponsor before you agree to work with them.
  • Reviewing a list of submitted links in a community, one domain at a time.
  • Checking a suspicious domain that arrived in an email or message.
  • Comparing how the family and security filters label the same domain.
  • Confirming that a domain you own has not been classified incorrectly, so you can contact the filter provider if it has.

What You Should Do and What You Should Not

Do treat a positive result as strong evidence and a negative result as only a hint. Do check the exact domain you care about, because a subdomain, such as a user page on a large platform, may be treated differently from the main site. Do re-check after some time if you think a recent change should have been picked up.

Do not use a single lookup as proof when you make decisions that affect other people, such as banning a user, rejecting a business partner or reporting a site owner. Do not assume that a not listed result means a site is clean, since new and obscure domains are often missing from filter lists. Do not paste links that contain private data, because the tool only needs the domain.

Limitations

The tool reflects one provider. A domain that Cloudflare Family DNS does not block may still be flagged by another filter, and the reverse is also true. The check applies to the whole domain and cannot see individual pages, images or videos. Large mixed-content platforms are usually not blocked, because blocking them would break legitimate use, even though adult material can exist on them. False positives and false negatives both occur. The tool also depends on the Cloudflare DNS service being reachable. If that service cannot be reached, the tool shows an error and does not guess a result, and you can try again shortly.

Why Compare Three Resolvers

Many simple checkers only ask the family resolver and call every block adult. That is wrong whenever the domain is a phishing page, a malware host or a hijacked site, because the family resolver blocks those as well. By also asking the malware-only resolver, the tool can tell the difference. By also asking the unfiltered resolver, it can tell a block apart from a domain that was never registered. Three questions give a more honest answer than one, and the cost is only a fraction of a second more.

Using the Result Responsibly

Domain classification affects real businesses and real people. If you find that a site you care about is listed incorrectly, do not publish accusations. Contact the filter provider and ask for a review. If you manage a block list at work or school, document why a domain was added and review the list from time to time. If you are a parent or a teacher, remember that the goal is protection and learning, so combine tools like this with conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions

الأسئلة الشائعة

إجابات موجزة على الأسئلة التي يطرحها المستخدمون قبل الوثوق بالنتيجة.

It asks Cloudflare Family DNS for the address of the domain. If the family resolver blocks the domain but the malware-only resolver does not, the tool reports the domain as adult content.

Cloudflare Family DNS blocks both adult content and malware. The tool also asks a malware-only resolver, so it can tell whether a block came from the adult category or from the security category.

Yes. Classification is not perfect. If you believe a site was categorised wrongly, ask the filter provider to review it instead of relying on this tool alone.

Very new domains, small domains and mixed-content platforms may not be on the list. Treat a not listed result as a hint, not proof.

It checks the domain only. Everything after the domain in a pasted link is ignored, so the result applies to the whole domain.

No. DNS filtering works on domain names, so raw IP addresses are rejected with a message asking for a valid domain.

Yes. Each visitor can make up to 30 checks per minute, and each domain result is reused for one hour.

The lookup is made from our server, so your own network address is not sent to Cloudflare. Avoid pasting links that include private tokens, and enter only the domain when in doubt.
