What Is the UK Passport Photo Resizer?

A UK passport application needs a digital colour photo at least 600 pixels wide and 750 pixels tall, between 50 KB and 10 MB. This tool crops to that portrait frame and keeps the JPEG inside the range.

How to Use It

Limitations

Do not crop the photo too tightly before upload: the passport form may crop it again. Keep the head, shoulders and upper body in the frame.

A UK passport photo must be taken within the last month. A photo booth code is an alternative to uploading a file, but the same framing rules apply. The image must show your head, shoulders and upper body, not just a tight face crop.

Before You Upload

  • Open the official HM Passport Office page and compare the current rule with the preset.
  • Confirm the file is JPEG and inside the 50 KB to 10 MB range.
  • Check the face is centred, the background is plain and no hair covers the eyes.
  • Keep a copy of the finished file in case the portal asks for it again.
