84 Million XRP Moved to Exchange Wallets as Price Approaches $1.30
Exchange wallets absorb 84 million XRP in three-day stretch
Public exchange wallets added 83.94 million XRP between Oct. 12 and Oct. 15, according to data from XRP Insights. The increase brought the total held in the 699 tracked wallets across 24 exchanges to 22.06 billion XRP, a rise of about 0.38%.
XRP traded near $1.32 around 14:56 UTC on Oct. 15, with a 24-hour gain of 0.89% and roughly $3.12 billion in reported turnover, CryptoSlate data showed.
Where the XRP went
The largest share of the weekly increase came from Binance-attributed wallets, which added 54.61 million XRP between Oct. 8 and Oct. 15. Over that same seven-day period, other exchanges also saw growth: Upbit gained 11.58 million, Kraken 9.17 million, Coinbase 8.09 million, and Bithumb 5.81 million.
Some exchanges moved in the opposite direction. Bybit's tracked holdings fell by 4.22 million XRP, while SBI VC Trade and Bitfinex each declined by about 3.4 million, and Uphold dropped 3.04 million.
The daily figures for Oct. 13 through Oct. 15 were 17.75 million, 35.21 million, and 30.98 million respectively, each recorded within the same 699 wallets and 24 exchanges with no changes to the tracked set.
What the balance numbers mean
XRP Insights counts hot wallets, deposit hubs, and cold storage, so exchange-controlled wallets can hold a mix of customer balances and institutional custody assets. The tracker also includes roughly 480.2 million XRP classified as wrapped-token reserves or other funds, such as insurance and charity holdings. Binance's grouping additionally covers Binance-Peg XRP backing and a separate Binance.US affiliate wallet.
Because XRP Ledger payment destination tags credit individual customers inside exchange systems, a public ledger balance cannot reveal what any single customer is planning to trade. Transfers between tracked and untracked exchange addresses can also change the measured total without reflecting a trading decision.
What traders will watch next
The immediate question for XRP holders is whether the growing exchange balances are accompanied by sustained selling on the venues involved. Further increases in those same wallets alongside seller-initiated spot trades would strengthen the concern. A balance reversal or an identified custody transfer would ease it.
CryptoSlate noted that the reported $3.12 billion in 24-hour turnover does not by itself show whether incoming sellers are the ones executing trades against resting buyers.
