AERO Up 48% in Four Weeks Ahead of Aero's Oct. 21 Multichain Launch
AERO climbs 48% as merger launch nears
Aerodrome's AERO token gained 48.1% over roughly four weeks ending Oct. 10, outpacing both bitcoin and ether. The rally comes as the decentralized exchange (a platform where users can swap digital assets without a middleman) prepares to merge with Velodrome into a multichain platform called Aero.
AERO was trading at $0.8535 as of 5:19 a.m. ET on Oct. 10, up from $0.5763 at 5 a.m. ET on Sept. 12, according to CoinGecko data cited by The Defiant. Over the same window, bitcoin rose 7.1% and ether fell 1.5%.
Price, value locked, and trading volume in context
- AERO gained 7.6% over the latest roughly seven-day window, while bitcoin lost 2.1% and ether dropped 7%.
- Total value locked (TVL) — the dollar value of assets deposited on the platform — rose from $339.1 million on Sept. 12 to $396.3 million on Oct. 10, with about $393.3 million on Base and $3 million on Arc.
- Aerodrome processed $3.51 billion in swaps over seven days and $14.61 billion over 30 days, according to DefiLlama volume data.
- 49.7% of Aerodrome's token supply was locked in the week of Oct. 8, according to the project's metrics dashboard citing Dune data.
- The rally was not uninterrupted: AERO was still about 4.9% below its Sept. 26 level of roughly $0.898.
What the Sept. 25 update announced
In a Sept. 25 update, Aero set its launch date and added Robinhood Chain and Arbitrum to a seven-network rollout. Under the planned system, holders of sAERO (a staked version of AERO) will direct token rewards to liquidity pools across the network and earn a share of exchange revenue, the project said.
The merger plan itself is not new. The Defiant first reported the Aerodrome-Velodrome combination in November 2025. The September update adds a concrete step within the price rally window, but the market data does not establish how much of AERO's advance it explains.
What is confirmed
The 48.1% price gain, the TVL figures, the trading volume, the locked supply percentage, and the Oct. 21 launch date are all drawn from specific data points and the project's own update. The endpoint prices used exclude any rewards earned from holding or locking tokens.
What is still unclear
The increase in TVL does not by itself confirm that net deposits grew or that trading demand strengthened — TVL can rise if the price of deposited assets goes up without new funds entering. The locked supply snapshot for the week of Oct. 8 does not show whether locking increased during the price rally. No source in the material establishes a causal link between the Sept. 25 update and the token's price movement.
What happens next
Aero's announced launch is scheduled for Oct. 21 across Base, Ethereum mainnet, OP Mainnet, Arc, Ink, Robinhood Chain, and Arbitrum.
