BingX and YouHodler join ESMA's MiCA register as list of licensed EU crypto firms reaches 375

Nine crypto firms added to the EU's MiCA register

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) added nine crypto-asset service providers to its Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) register in its Friday update. MiCA is the European Union's rulebook for crypto companies, and being on the register means a firm is allowed to serve customers in the EU under those rules.

The update brings the total number of unique registered providers to 375. The additions include crypto exchange BingX and crypto lending platform YouHodler.

Who was added

  • BingX was listed through its Austrian entity, MEGE zweite.
  • YouHodler was listed through its Italian subsidiary, with authorization covering custody, crypto exchanges, order execution and transfers. YouHodler offers yield products.
  • Spain's Prakma Markets, linked to the Goin crypto app, which runs a savings and investment platform, was also added.
  • Germany's additions included Openbank Deutschland, a subsidiary of Spanish banking group Banco Santander, along with cooperative lenders VR-Bank Alb-Blau-Donau and VR Bank im südlichen Franken.

What BingX and YouHodler said

Both BingX and YouHodler announced their authorizations last week. BingX EU CEO Daniel Lai said the approval would let the company operate under a clear regulatory framework as it prepares to launch regulated services across the European Economic Area.

Penning Financial Services dropped from the list

Denmark's Penning Financial Services is no longer listed, even though it had appeared in register updates going back to July 3. A spokesperson for Penning told Cointelegraph that its MiCA authorization is unchanged and that it had received no communication from Denmark's financial regulator about any changes.

Cointelegraph said it contacted ESMA and Denmark's Financial Supervisory Authority for clarification but had not received a response at the time of publication. That means the reason for the change is not confirmed.

Other registers stay mostly flat

The e-money token (EMT) register was unchanged at 50 entries representing 25 unique entities. The asset-referenced token (ART) register remained empty. The register of non-compliant crypto-asset service providers (NCASPs) grew by five entries to 178.

What is confirmed

ESMA's Friday update added nine providers, including BingX's Austrian entity and YouHodler's Italian subsidiary, for a total of 375 unique registered providers. BingX and YouHodler had already announced their authorizations. Penning Financial Services no longer appears on the register, and the company says its authorization status has not changed.

What is still unclear

It is not clear why Penning Financial Services was removed from the register. The company says it has not been told of any change, and neither ESMA nor Denmark's financial regulator had responded to requests for clarification at the time the source article was published.

Why it matters

The MiCA register is the public list of crypto companies cleared to operate under EU rules, so changes to it affect which firms EU customers can use and which ones regulators flag as non-compliant. The NCASP list, which tracks providers that are not compliant, rose to 178 entries in this update.
