Bitcoin ETFs turn negative for 2026 after $1.28 billion outflow week

A $1.28 billion outflow week for bitcoin funds

U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs lost $1.28 billion last week. An ETF is a fund traded on a stock exchange that tracks an asset.

The Block reported the data, based on SoSoValue figures. It was the funds' second straight negative week. It was also their worst week since late June.

The funds lost money on every day except Wednesday. They lost $398.6 million on Monday and $115.6 million on Tuesday. They lost $430.2 million on Thursday and $411.9 million on Friday. Wednesday brought a smaller inflow of $74.6 million.

The main numbers

  • Bitcoin funds are now down $914.1 million for 2026.
  • They started the week up about $368 million for the year.
  • BlackRock's IBIT accounted for about 88% of Friday's gross outflows.
  • Ether ETFs lost $365.3 million, their sixth straight negative week.
  • Solana ETFs lost $26.3 million, their fifth straight negative week.
  • Hyperliquid ETFs lost $15.6 million, also their fifth straight negative week.

BlackRock's fund led Friday's selling

IBIT lost $403 million on Friday. That was about 88% of the day's gross outflows.

Bitwise's BITB and Ark & 21Shares' ARKB each lost about $20 million. Grayscale's GBTC lost $11.1 million.

Fidelity's FBTC was different on Friday. It took in $42.8 million. The day before, it had led outflows with $199.9 million.

The total bitcoin held by the 12 funds fell 2.3% to $95.9 billion. That was about 6.3% of bitcoin's market capitalization. IBIT held $60.3 billion, against $65.1 billion in cumulative inflows.

Ether, Solana and Hyperliquid funds extend losing runs

Spot ether ETFs lost $365.3 million. The six-week run has taken about $2.02 billion from the funds since late September. The products are now down about $405.6 million for 2026.

Ether ETFs had only one positive day last week, on Wednesday, when they gained $53 million. Monday was the largest outflow day at $139.8 million. BlackRock's ETHA accounted for $90.8 million of Friday's losses, about 96% of the gross total.

Solana ETFs lost $26.3 million, with nearly all of it on Friday. Their five-week outflows total $165.4 million. They still remain about $676.2 million positive for the year. Their net assets fell to $1.31 billion from $1.40 billion a week earlier.

Hyperliquid ETFs have lost $58.4 million over five weeks. Their net assets fell about 17% in a week to $374.1 million. Friday's outflow was $8 million, led by Bitwise's BHYP.

What analysts said about the wider selloff

The Block reported that the outflows came during a selloff in crypto and equities after Tuesday's midterm elections. Bitcoin fell 5.6% on Thursday alone.

Analysts linked the slide to the Democratic sweep of Congress and doubts over AI spending, according to The Block. Analysts also said a blue wave in Texas could slow development there, where many bitcoin mining facilities and data centers are located. These are reported analyst views, not confirmed causes.

Bitcoin traded near $75,880 on Saturday morning. Ether was around $2,244, SOL near $89.84 and HYPE around $77.79, according to The Block's price pages.
