Bitcoin slips as consumer confidence hits decade low

The Conference Board's Consumer Confidence Index fell to its lowest level in more than a decade in September, with expectations of continued weakening in business and labor market conditions.

Bitcoin turned lower alongside stocks on Tuesday, according to CoinDesk's live market updates.

Fed comments move rate markets

  • New York Fed President John Williams said "there is no need for urgency" on another rate hike after the Fed's September meeting.
  • Williams said his base case is for just one more rate hike this year.
  • The two-year Treasury yield fell to 4.88% from as high as 4.96% earlier Tuesday.
  • October rate hike odds dipped to 51% from 70% one day earlier.
  • Bitcoin and stocks were not reacting strongly to the remarks, both continuing with modest losses for the day.
