Bitmine Projections Show $334 Million in Annual Revenue from Staked Ether
Bitmine Increases Ether Treasury to 5.95 Million ETH
Bitmine Immersion Technologies announced on Monday that it purchased 27,180 Ether (ETH) last week. This acquisition brings the company's total holdings of the digital currency to more than 5.95 million ETH. The holdings are valued at approximately $15.4 billion.
The company now controls about 4.9% of all Ether currently in circulation. Including cash and other digital assets, Bitmine reported its total treasury value at roughly $15.8 billion. The firm has shifted the majority of these holdings into income-generating positions.
Important Treasury and Revenue Figures
- Bitmine acquired 27,180 ETH during the previous week.
- Total Ether holdings reached 5.95 million ETH, worth $15.4 billion.
- The company has staked over 5.06 million ETH, which is roughly 85% of its total Ether.
- Annual revenue from staking activities is projected to reach $334 million at current rates.
Revenue Projections from Company Staking
According to the company's announcement, Bitmine has moved more than 5.06 million ETH into staking. Staking is a process where owners lock up their digital tokens to help support a blockchain network, which is a digital ledger of transactions, in exchange for rewards.
This strategy turns the company's crypto treasury into a recurring source of income. Bitmine estimates that these staked assets will generate $334 million in revenue annually. This approach differs from companies that hold Bitcoin, as Bitcoin does not provide native staking rewards.
Comparison with Other Corporate Crypto Strategies
Bitmine’s decision to stake 85% of its holdings is similar to the Grayscale Ethereum Staking ETF, which has 84.6% of its Ether staked. An ETF, or exchange-traded fund, is a type of investment that tracks the price of an asset and trades on traditional stock exchanges.
While Bitmine continued to accumulate Ether, other major crypto holders showed different priorities last week. Michael Saylor’s Strategy did not purchase any Bitcoin for the second week in a row. Instead, that company spent $139.3 million to buy back shares of its own preferred stock.
Confirmed Holdings and Stock Performance
Bitmine’s total assets, including cash and various cryptocurrencies, are confirmed at approximately $15.8 billion. The company's stock was trading just below $25 on Monday morning. While the stock has increased by nearly 38% over the last month, it is still down for the year overall.
Potential for Recurring Revenue in Volatile Markets
The company's focus on staking allows it to generate revenue even when the price of Ether is changing. By locking up 85% of its treasury, Bitmine can produce a steady income stream that is not strictly dependent on selling its assets during market volatility.
