BVNK Adds Stellar Network Support for Stablecoin Payments
BVNK Integrates Stellar for Stablecoin Settlement
BVNK, the stablecoin payments firm acquired by Mastercard, has added native support for the Stellar network. The integration is now live for customers across more than 130 markets, seven weeks after Mastercard completed its acquisition of the company.
Mastercard agreed to pay up to $1.8 billion for BVNK, which connects its card rails to blockchains. With the acquisition complete, BVNK's choice of settlement networks is now a Mastercard decision.
Key Numbers
- Mastercard agreed to pay up to $1.8 billion for BVNK, including $300 million in contingent payments.
- The deal closed on Aug. 3, 2026.
- BVNK says Stellar processed $55.6 billion in payment volume across 3.6 billion transactions in 2025.
- Average settlement time is five seconds, with 99.99% uptime, according to BVNK.
- Transaction costs are a fraction of a cent.
What the Integration Offers
BVNK said the Stellar integration targets cross-border payouts, remittances, and treasury disbursements. The company added that the same integration "extends to additional Stellar-native assets over time as BVNK adds support."
"The future of global payments is multi-chain and multi-asset, but businesses shouldn't have to manage the underlying engineering burden of connecting to dozens of individual blockchains," said Kimberley Mescal Julien, head of partnerships at BVNK.
Denelle Dixon, chief executive of the Stellar Development Foundation, said financial institutions "depend on" the network for cross-border transfers, payouts, and stablecoin settlement.
Where Stellar Sits Onchain
Stellar holds about $894 million in dollar-pegged stablecoins and $260 million in total value locked, DefiLlama data shows. By comparison, Ethereum carries $146 billion in dollar stablecoins, Tron $94 billion, and Solana $15.8 billion.
BVNK's currency reference documentation, last updated Sept. 17, lists eight networks — Arc, Arbitrum, Base, BNB Chain, Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, and Tron — alongside native Bitcoin, Litecoin, and XRP. Stellar was not listed at the time of writing, though BVNK says the integration is now live for all customers in its supported countries.
XLM, Stellar's native token, rose 8.7% over 24 hours and 10.6% over seven days, according to CoinGecko.
Mastercard's Broader Stablecoin Push
BVNK, founded in 2021, counts Worldpay, Deel, and Flywire among its customers. The firm secured a licence under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation (MiCA) in February, supplied stablecoin infrastructure for Visa Direct pilots in January, and partnered with card issuer-processor Marqeta on Sept. 9.
Mastercard said stablecoin payment volumes reached at least $350 billion in 2025. Earlier this year, the card network opened its card-settlement rails on eight blockchains and won a New York BitLicense for its stablecoin settlement business.
