Crypto Job Postings Tripled to 1,241 in September as Applications Slid Below 20,000
Crypto hiring surges with over 1,200 open positions
Crypto job listings more than tripled from 382 in July to 1,241 in September, according to data from CryptoJobsList, a recruitment platform specializing in blockchain roles. The September figure was the highest of the year, more than double the 573 openings recorded in January, which had been the busiest month until August.
The number of companies actively recruiting rose to 125 in September, up from 107 in July and 77 in August. Some of the increase likely reflects seasonal patterns at the end of summer, but the acceleration was already underway in August when listings doubled July's count.
Key numbers from the September data
- 1,241 open positions in September, up from 886 in August and 382 in July
- 125 companies recruiting in September, up from 107 in July and 77 in August
- Applications fell from 25,700 in July and 24,631 in August to under 20,000 in September
- The entire prior year peaked at just 373 listings in October 2025
Where hiring demand is concentrated
Finance was the largest job category over the three-month period, followed by engineering and trading. Stablecoins (digital tokens pegged to traditional currencies such as the US dollar), AI, security, and compliance also appeared in the top 10 categories.
Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana were the most frequently requested blockchain skills — familiarity with the decentralized digital ledgers that power these networks — reflecting the three largest networks by market cap in the crypto industry.
Why applications fell as listings grew
Although openings surged, applications moved in the opposite direction. CryptoJobsList recorded 25,700 applications in July and 24,631 in August before dropping to just under 20,000 in September. The platform interprets this gap as a sign that competition for specialist workers is tightening, though its data does not explain why applications declined as listings rose.
