Dune launches real-time data feeds for onchain trading venues

Real-time data feeds arrive for onchain trading

Dune, a company that analyzes digital asset markets, has launched new tools that provide live price and trade information for onchain trading venues. This move aims to support the increasing interest in tokenized assets, which are digital versions of real-world items like stocks.

The new feeds send trade data to users roughly one second after a trade happens. This allows professionals to see what is happening on these platforms almost instantly.

What the feeds cover

  • The new spot data feeds cover more than 200 onchain venues.
  • These venues operate across 12 different networks, including Solana, Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain, and X Layer.
  • Dune also announced feeds for specific perpetual trading venues like Hyperliquid and Lighter.

Statements from Dune leadership

Dune released a statement on Thursday announcing the launch. The company said that the new feeds allow hedge funds, asset managers, and brokers to follow price changes on onchain platforms using the same systems they use for traditional markets.

Fredrik Haga, co-founder and CEO of Dune, said that onchain trading is now a significant part of the market. He noted that onchain trading represents about 25% of all spot crypto trading volume. The SEC is also allowing certain venues to trade tokenized U.S.-listed stocks without registering as traditional exchanges, according to the company.

Why this matters for market data

Dune stated that onchain trading has grown too large to be left out of standard market data systems. The company pointed to a five-year exemption issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) last month. This exemption permits specific venues to trade tokenized versions of U.S.-listed stocks without registering as exchanges.

The article mentions OKXICE, a joint venture between OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, which notified the SEC of plans to launch a tokenized securities trading venue under this exemption. OKXICE has since filed to list 63 tokenized stocks on the X Layer network.
