Ethereum Staking Reaches Record 43.8 Million ETH as Yields Dip
Ethereum staking climbs to all-time high
Ethereum's total staked supply has reached a record 43.8 million ETH, according to data from asset manager Bitwise. Staking is the process of locking up cryptocurrency to help secure a blockchain network, with holders earning rewards in return.
At the same time, the gross annualized staking yield dropped to 2.63%, down from 2.81%. That means validators — the participants who stake their ETH and process transactions — are earning slightly less in return for securing the network.
Key staking numbers
- Record 43.8 million ETH now staked on Ethereum
- Gross annualized yield fell to 2.63% from 2.81%
- Solana also saw increased staking with lower returns
What Bitwise reports
Bitwise highlighted that both Ethereum and Solana are seeing more capital move into staking even as the rewards on that capital decline. The trend reflects growing participation by validators and institutions looking to earn yield from holding these assets rather than selling them.
Why this matters
Rising staking totals signal that more ETH is being locked away and removed from active trading, which can reduce selling pressure on the market. Lower yields may slow the pace of new stakers, but the overall trend points to long-term confidence in both Ethereum and Solana networks.
