Two airdrop rounds will distribute tokens. One round goes to people who subscribe to Biden’s Substack newsletter. The other round targets wallets that lost money while holding the TRUMP memecoin, a token linked to former President Donald Trump.

Political burn conditions

Some of the token supply is linked to future events. If Democrats win the 2028 U.S. presidential election, if Bitcoin reaches a new record price, or if LAPTOP’s market value exceeds that of the TRUMP token, the related tokens will be permanently removed (burned). If the conditions are not met, the tokens may be sent to charity.

Background and criticism

The token’s name refers to the laptop that Hunter Biden left for a repair shop in 2019, a device that became a political controversy in the 2020 election. Biden has previously criticized the Trump family for using crypto projects to generate personal profit, calling their venture World Liberty Financial “corruption at a scale we’ve never seen.”
