Kalshi US Visits Surge 1,500% Amid Growing Legal Battles
Explosive growth for the prediction market platform
Prediction market platform Kalshi reported a massive increase in US web traffic and trading volume over the past year. This surge is happening at the same time the company faces increasing legal pressure over its sports betting contracts.
In July, Kalshi recorded 15.4 million visits from the United States. This is an increase of roughly 1,520% from August 2025, when the platform saw just under 1 million visits from the US. US traffic accounted for nearly 80% of all visits to the platform in July.
Trading volume grows much faster than visits
While the number of visitors increased sharply, the amount of money being traded increased even more. According to a data dashboard from Dune Analytics, Kalshi's monthly trading volume reached about $40 billion in August. This is a huge jump from $874 million one year earlier, representing an increase of roughly 4,500%.
Kalshi has become the dominant force in the prediction market industry. Across the entire sector, monthly trading volume rose from about $2 billion to $50.7 billion over the same period. Kalshi accounts for nearly 79% of that total.
Sports contracts are the main driver of this growth. According to Barron's, sports contracts made up 83% of Kalshi's trading volume in July.
Legal battles create uncertainty for the future
Kalshi is currently facing legal challenges regarding whether its sports contracts fall under federal oversight or state gambling laws. The state of New Jersey has taken the dispute to the US Supreme Court, and other states like Michigan are also continuing efforts to block the platform.
Kalshi also faces questions about users in restricted areas. Website traffic data shows that Canada generated about 450,000 visits to the site in July, up from roughly 50,000 in August 2025. UK traffic also increased to 296,000 visits from 31,000 during the same period.
Both Canada and the UK are jurisdictions where Kalshi's member agreement currently prohibits direct access to the platform. However, Kalshi partnered with Canadian financial services company Wealthsimple in June to provide access to nearly 4,000 eligible Kalshi contracts through a separate app.

Why this matters for the crypto industry
The growth of platforms like Kalshi shows that interest in prediction markets—platforms where users bet on the outcomes of real-world events—is expanding rapidly. The fact that a single platform controls nearly 80% of the industry's volume highlights how concentrated this market has become.
However, the ongoing legal battles over sports contracts create uncertainty. Regulators and courts are still deciding whether these products should be treated as federal commodities or state-regulated gambling. This outcome could affect how the entire prediction market sector operates.
