Revolut secures conditional US banking approval from OCC
Fintech firm Revolut has received conditional approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) to form a national bank, moving closer to offering direct banking services in the country.
The approval allows Revolut to provide banking products such as loans, stablecoins, and credit cards to U.S. customers. Revolut CEO Nik Storonsky called the decision “an important first step” in expanding the company’s presence in the U.S. market.
Revolut already holds bank licenses in France, Australia, and the UK.
Growing trend among crypto and tech firms
The OCC has recently granted similar conditional approvals to other crypto and technology companies, including Coinbase, Paxos, BitGo, Ripple, and Circle. The regulator has taken a supportive stance toward firms engaging in crypto and novel technologies, according to OCC chief Jonathan Gould.
Since 2025, the OCC has received 40 new charter applications, approving 21 and denying two.
