Robinhood Reports $15 Billion in Stock Token Trading as Its Blockchain Passes 100 Days

Robinhood Hits $15 Billion in Tokenized Stock Trading

Robinhood reported $15 billion in trading volume for its Stock Tokens on its own blockchain, marking the 100-day milestone for Robinhood Chain. The figures were shared in an October 12 update from Robinhood Crypto.

Robinhood Chain is a Layer 2 blockchain — a cheaper, faster network built on top of Ethereum — that launched on July 1. It was built using Arbitrum technology. Alongside the chain, Robinhood introduced Stock Tokens, digital representations of stocks that users can trade and use in DeFi (decentralized finance) applications.

Key figures from the 100-day mark

  • 190 or more Stock Tokens are live on the chain
  • The tokens have reached 200,000 holders across more than 120 countries
  • Over $99 billion in cumulative trading volume across the entire Robinhood Chain
  • More than $1 billion deposited on Morpho, a lending protocol operating on the chain

What Robinhood says about the product

Robinhood states that Stock Tokens let eligible users trade stocks around the clock through Robinhood Wallet. Users can also place these tokens in lending pools or use them as collateral for other trades. The original stock-token product, now called Classic Stock Tokens, remains available in the Robinhood Europe app.

According to Robinhood's product disclosures, Stock Tokens are not actual shares. They are tokenized debt securities issued by Robinhood Assets (Jersey) Limited. Holders have no legal or beneficial rights to the underlying stock. The product is not available to U.S. persons and is also restricted in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.

Lending activity on the chain

Morpho, a lending protocol on Robinhood Chain, reported roughly $1.1 billion in total deposits and $486.7 million in outstanding loans as of October 12, according to its own dashboard. Robinhood's update cited figures exceeding $1 billion in deposits on the protocol.

Trading volume has slowed recently

While cumulative milestones are rising, recent spot trading on the chain has cooled. DefiLlama, a blockchain data tracker, showed $6.27 billion in seven-day trading volume on October 12, a 30.47% decline from the prior week. Total value locked in DeFi protocols on the chain stood at about $1.05 billion at the same time. These figures cover the broader network, not just Stock Tokens.

What is confirmed

Robinhood's official update confirms $15 billion in Stock Token trading volume, 190+ live tokens, 200,000 holders in 120+ countries, and over $99 billion in total chain volume. Morpho's dashboard independently confirms deposit and loan figures on the chain. DefiLlama provides third-party data on recent trading trends.

What remains unclear

The source does not break down how the $15 billion in Stock Token volume was generated — for example, how many were buys versus sells, or how volume was distributed among individual tokens. The source also does not explain the causes behind the recent slowdown in trading activity.

Why this matters

Robinhood Chain represents one of the first major attempts by a traditional brokerage to bring tokenized stock products into DeFi ecosystems. If stock tokens can be traded around the clock and used as lending collateral on a blockchain, it may expand access to equity markets for users outside traditional banking hours. However, the product is unavailable in the United States and carries significant restrictions in other major markets, which limits its immediate reach.
