Samsung Wallet now supports USDC purchases

Samsung has announced that its Wallet app now allows eligible users to buy USDC, a stablecoin meant to maintain a value equal to the U.S. dollar. This feature is facilitated through a partnership with Stripe, a payment processing company.

Key numbers

  • 82 million U.S. Galaxy devices can use this service.
  • New York residents are not eligible for USDC purchases.
  • Eligible devices must run Android 13 or later and support fingerprint authentication.

Steps for using the new feature

To purchase USDC, users can convert U.S. dollars via Samsung Pay, credit and debit cards, or ACH bank transfers. Funds can be added to the Stablecoin Account, which allows for holding, sending, and receiving USDC. Users can also withdraw their USDC balances back to bank accounts or debit cards, converting it back to dollars.

Transaction fees and conditions

There are no fees for opening the Stablecoin Account, but fees apply based on how users fund their accounts, make transfers, or withdraw funds. Transaction fees will be displayed before users confirm their actions.
