Samsung Wallet launches USDC accounts on Solana for US Galaxy users
Samsung Wallet adds USDC accounts on Solana
Samsung Wallet has launched a Stablecoin Account for eligible Galaxy users in the United States. The account lets users buy, hold, send and receive USDC on Solana.
USDC is a stablecoin, a type of crypto designed to keep its price steady, often by linking it to the US dollar. Samsung said the feature is now live, after it was first announced on Oct. 7 with a launch originally expected in the last week of that month.
Eligibility and transfer options
- About 82 million Galaxy devices in the US are compatible, according to Samsung.
- Users must be at least 18, have a Samsung Account, and use a compatible device running Android 13 or later.
- New York residents are excluded.
- Users can send USDC to another Samsung Wallet user or a compatible external crypto wallet without a Samsung transfer fee.
- Eligible users can also send money to qualifying bank accounts in more than 60 countries, where recipients may receive local currency. Fees vary by destination.
Bastion and Coinbase hold the USDC
Licensed stablecoin custodian Bastion handles the stablecoin accounts and transfer infrastructure. Coinbase holds the USDC as sub-custodian through Coinbase Prime Vault.
Coinbase and Samsung had already worked together before this launch. In October 2025, Samsung expanded the partnership to let US Galaxy users fund Coinbase accounts with Samsung Pay.
What Samsung and Solana said
Woncheol Chai, EVP and Head of the Digital Wallet Team at Samsung Electronics, said: "Stablecoins have the potential to make moving money around the world faster and easier, and we want Galaxy users to be able to take advantage of that without having to navigate the complexity of traditional crypto tools."
Solana Foundation President Lily Liu said: "For a decade, stablecoins have proved the technology works. What they lacked was a way to reach the mainstream."
Why Samsung says the feature matters
The Stablecoin Account lets users access USDC without installing a separate crypto app or managing private keys themselves. A private key is a secret code used to control crypto in a wallet.
What Samsung plans to explore next
Samsung said it expects to explore online and in-store stablecoin payments, and expansion to additional markets, subject to local regulation. No further dates or confirmed details for those steps were provided.
