Solana Labs launches Leap app for trading tokenized stocks and crypto

Leap lets users trade tokenized stocks and crypto in one app

Solana Labs launched a beta version of Leap, a mobile app that lets users trade tokenized stocks, ETFs, metals, currencies and crypto in one place.

Tokenized stocks are shares represented as digital tokens on a blockchain, which is a shared digital record system. An ETF, or exchange-traded fund, is a fund that holds a group of assets and trades on an exchange.

The app is available in early access on iPhone through Apple's public TestFlight program. An Android version is coming soon.

Key features of the beta app

  • Users can trade tokenized stocks, ETFs, metals, currencies and crypto around the clock, subject to restrictions.
  • The app pins market-moving news to price charts at the time the news broke.
  • It tracks profit and loss across deposits, withdrawals, trades and fees, including each position's breakeven price.
  • Users enter an amount in dollars, and each trade is made as an onchain swap, meaning a trade done directly on the blockchain.
  • Trades are routed through Jupiter.

How Leap is built

Leap is built by the team behind Dialect, which Solana Labs acquired earlier this year. Dialect developed Solana Actions and Blinks, a protocol that turns blockchain transactions into shareable links, and the cashtags feature on X.

The company said it uses Jupiter for trade routing, Helius for infrastructure and Birdeye for market data.

Leap is presented as an alternative to fast-paced meme coin trading. It is aimed at users who want news and detailed tracking to help them make longer-term decisions.

What company leaders said

Chris Osborn, Leap's general manager and Dialect's founder, said: "The Solana blockchain now confirms a trade in about 150 milliseconds thanks to Alpenglow, so the network is now faster than ever." Alpenglow is described as a consensus overhaul designed to cut Solana's confirmation times.

Solana Labs co-founder and CEO Anatoly Yakovenko said: "Every app that brings new people onchain makes the whole ecosystem stronger."

Fees and the referral plan

Leap does not charge its own fees at launch, though network and routing costs still apply.

The company plans to use future fees to buy and burn SOL, which means permanently removing tokens from circulation, and to fund a referral program.

Early waitlist members, called the Founders Club, would earn 30% of trading fees from users they invite and 5% from referrals made by those users.

Availability and wider context

The app is not available in the U.K. or other restricted regions.

The launch comes as tokenized stocks gain traction on Solana and elsewhere. Securitize has brought tokenized Nvidia, Apple and Amazon shares to Solana.

The trend has also faced pushback. A total of 56 companies have objected to having their shares traded on OKX and ICE's planned tokenized stock venue.
