S&P Global Leads $110 Million Investment in Crypto Data Provider Kaiko
Kaiko Secures $110 Million from S-P Global to Power 24/7 Token Markets
Kaiko, a crypto data provider, announced on Monday that S-P Global led a strategic investment extending its Series B funding round to $110 million. The financing aims to strengthen Kaiko’s market-data business and expand infrastructure for round-the-clock markets where assets like stocks and bonds are represented as digital tokens.
Key Investors and Funding Details
- The investment brings Kaiko's Series B total to more than twice its original $53 million raise in 2022.
- Participating investors include BNP Paribas, Bpifrance, Broadridge, Canton Foundation, Coinbase Ventures, DRW Venture Capital, Nasdaq Ventures, Royal Bank of Canada, Stellar, and Susquehanna Private Equity Investments.
- Existing shareholders Anthemis, Point Nine, and Revaia also joined the round.
What Kaiko Says About the Financing
Kaiko stated that the capital will be used to enhance its core digital-asset market-data services. The company plans to expand an infrastructure that delivers proprietary data to smart contracts, converts onchain financial activity into standardized offchain data, and supports confidential valuation and analytics.
Building on an Existing Partnership with S-P Global
The investment follows a product partnership announced on September 1, when S-P Dow Jones Indices and Kaiko launched the S-P Kaiko Digital Asset Indices. This suite includes over 4,000 rates and indices, with Kaiko providing data and calculation, and S-P handling benchmark administration, licensing, and distribution.
Supporting the Future of Tokenized Assets
Kaiko covers more than 150 exchanges and protocols. The company highlighted that tokenized Treasury bills, money market funds, equities, and bonds will require data systems capable of operating beyond traditional trading hours. This investment aims to meet that need.
Strategic Industry Working Group Formed
Participating institutions have joined a strategic industry working group chaired by Kaiko. The group will focus on developing the data and infrastructure needed to bring tokenized products into production.
