Strive buys $143 million in Bitcoin, becomes fifth-largest public treasury

Strive, a Nasdaq-listed company, bought 1,800 Bitcoin for $143 million between August 24 and August 28, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The purchase at an average price of $79,431 per Bitcoin brings the company’s total holdings to 23,156 Bitcoin, now worth about $1.8 billion at current prices.

The company’s stock (NASDAQ: ASST) rose 9% on Monday following the announcement. Year-to-date, Strive’s stock has gained nearly 40%.

Largest public Bitcoin holders

With this purchase, Strive has become the fifth-largest public Bitcoin treasury, behind Strategy, Twenty One, Metaplanet, and MARA. A Bitcoin treasury is a company that holds Bitcoin as a primary asset on its balance sheet.

Company strategy and background

Strive was founded in 2025 by Vivek Ramaswamy and debuted as a Bitcoin treasury after raising $750 million. The company maintains a debt-free balance sheet with no bonds, credit lines, or leveraged positions, aiming to provide investors with exposure to Bitcoin without forced liquidation risks.

In January 2026, Strive completed the acquisition of Semler Scientific in an all-stock deal, marking the first time a publicly traded Bitcoin treasury company acquired another.

Strive’s year-to-date Bitcoin yield, which measures growth in Bitcoin holdings relative to share count, reached 40.8% as of its August 28 filing, up from less than 37% in early June.

Recent activity from other treasuries

Strategy, the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, also resumed its Bitcoin purchases last week after a 10-week pause, buying 4,603 Bitcoin for $369.7 million between August 24 and August 30.
