US Bitcoin ETFs record best month of 2026 with $3.52B inflows in August
US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which are investment funds that track Bitcoin’s price and trade on stock exchanges, recorded their best month of 2026 in August with $3.52 billion in net inflows. This came as Bitcoin’s price rose about 25% during the same period, its strongest monthly gain since November 2024.
August inflows cut yearly outflows by 66%
The $3.52 billion in inflows reduced the year-to-date net outflows for US Bitcoin ETFs by roughly 66%, from $5.29 billion to $1.77 billion. The funds saw net inflows on 16 of 21 trading days in August, including nine consecutive days from August 17 to August 27.
Total net assets for these ETFs grew by about 31%, rising from $76.29 billion at the end of July to $99.61 billion at the end of August. Monthly trading volume also increased by nearly 49%, reaching $58.63 billion.
Ether and XRP ETFs also gained
Spot Ether (ETH) ETFs turned positive for the year, with $732 million in net inflows by the end of August, up from a $1.12 billion deficit in July. XRP ETFs reached $502 million in year-to-date net inflows, a 46% increase from $343 million at the end of July.
September starts with outflows
On September 2, US Bitcoin ETFs saw $236.46 million in net outflows, reversing the $216.70 million in inflows recorded the day before. This marked the largest daily outflow since July 31. The shift coincided with Bitcoin’s price briefly dropping below $77,000 after trading above $80,000 in late August.
Ether and XRP ETFs, however, continued to see inflows on September 2, with Ether ETFs attracting around $11 million and XRP ETFs drawing $14.4 million.
