Walt Plans AI Perpetuals Trading Through Mira, ChatGPT and Claude

Walt plans AI-assisted perpetuals trading

Walt, a crypto app formerly called Wallet in Telegram, plans to let users research and trade perpetual futures through three AI assistants: Mira, ChatGPT and Claude. The company described the planned feature, called Agentic Trading, in an advance press release supplied to The Defiant.

Under the plan, an AI assistant would connect to a user's Walt trading account. Mira would bring the experience into Telegram conversations, while ChatGPT and Claude users would work through those assistants' own chat environments, according to the release.

The plan adds AI-directed order execution and monitoring to a derivatives product Walt already offers. Perpetual futures, often called perpetuals, are contracts that let traders bet on an asset's price without owning it and without an expiry date.

What the Agentic Trading feature would do

  • Users could instruct an agent to open or close long and short positions by talking to it, instead of tapping through the app.
  • The agents would analyze portfolio exposure, leverage and liquidation risk.
  • They would monitor positions around the clock and adjust take-profit and stop-loss orders on a user's instructions.
  • They would support simple rules-based strategies, including staggered entries and rebalancing of long and short exposure.

Order execution off by default

Walt says order execution would be disabled by default. An agent could trade only from a dedicated account the user chooses to fund, and it would have no permission to withdraw or transfer money. Users could set trading parameters, watch activity and disconnect the agent at any time, according to the release.

Walt notes that these permission limits are not the same as protection against trading losses. The company's existing perpetuals terms warn that losses can exceed the collateral set aside for a position in some market conditions. Those terms also allow Walt to apply other balances in a user's Walt accounts against losses, fees and shortfalls.

How Walt's perpetuals product started

Walt introduced perpetuals through Lighter on April 2, offering more than 50 assets and up to 50x leverage at launch. Its current trading guide tells users to pick a contract, direction, margin and leverage, then review and open the position. Founder and CEO Andrew Rogozov previewed conversational AI trading in his September 28 rebrand announcement.

What is still unconfirmed

The details of Agentic Trading come from an advance press release supplied to The Defiant, so the feature is not yet presented as live. The release does not state when the feature would launch, which markets it would be available in, or whether all three AI assistants would go live at the same time.

Why this matters

Perpetuals trading normally requires users to set contract, direction, margin and leverage themselves in an app. Walt's plan would move part of that process into a chat conversation and hand position monitoring to software that runs continuously. At the same time, the company's own terms show that trading losses can go beyond the collateral assigned to a position, and that other account balances may be used to cover losses and fees.
