Category-Wise Break-Up

All posts pay Rs. 28,900 to Rs. 74,500 under Pay Level 9.

Who Can Apply

You need to clear the Madhyamik exam from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or any equal exam. You also need basic computer knowledge and English typing speed of 30 words per minute. Reading, writing and speaking Bengali is a must, but not for candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali. If your mother tongue is neither Bengali nor Nepali, the typing test will check how well you handle Bengali. Reservation benefits under EWS, SC, ST and OBC-NCL go only to West Bengal candidates from those groups. Applicants from other states in those categories are treated as unreserved.

Selection Process

WBPSC runs this hiring in stages across 600 total marks:

1. General English — written paper.
2. Dictation and Transcription — tests your shorthand and typing skills.
3. Computer Typing Examination — checks speed and accuracy on a computer.

The Commission will hold the test at different centres in Kolkata. The December 2026 date is tentative, so watch the official site for the final schedule.
