CSV Beautifier
Turn comma-separated data into an aligned, readable view or a compact minified copy. Paste up to 200,000 characters or fetch a public CSV URL.
The beautified pipe view is for reading, not valid CSV. The page has no delimiter picker, and manual input is processed on the server.

CSV Beautifier
What this CSV beautifier does
This page takes comma-separated data and produces an aligned, easier-to-read view. In Beautify mode it parses the rows, pads each cell to a common width and joins the columns with a pipe character. The result looks like a table in a plain-text editor. In Minify mode it re-emits the data in a compact form. The page is useful for inspecting a small CSV export, not for producing a file that another CSV importer should consume.
The aligned view is not valid CSV
The beautified output uses spaces and pipe characters to line up columns. That is a display format, not the comma-separated format that spreadsheets and databases expect. If you save the beautified text as a .csv file and import it, the columns may collapse into one field or the pipes may appear as data. Use Beautify for reading, and keep the original CSV or use Minify for a machine-readable copy.
How to use it
Choose CSV as the language. Leave the mode on Beautify for a readable layout, or switch to Minify for a compact output. Paste the CSV into the editor, or use the URL tab to fetch a public file. Press the format button. The output appears in a read-only editor. Use copy or download if you need to keep the result. The input limit is 200,000 characters.
Commas, quotes and line breaks
CSV is more complicated than splitting on commas. A field can contain a comma inside double quotes, and a quoted field can contain a line break. The parser used by this page handles many ordinary cases, but you should inspect the result when your data contains quotes, embedded commas or multi-line cells. A well-formed CSV can still look wrong if it uses a semicolon or tab delimiter instead of a comma.
Delimiter limitations
The tool is built around comma-separated data. It does not expose a delimiter picker for semicolons, tabs or pipes. If your export uses another separator, convert it first or use a tool that lets you choose the delimiter. Pasting semicolon-separated data into a comma-based beautifier can produce one wide column or a misleading alignment. Check the first few rows before trusting the layout.
Beautify versus minify
Beautify is for human reading: it adds spacing and a visible column boundary. Minify is for a smaller text representation. Minify may re-quote fields, but it is not a general-purpose CSV optimizer. It does not validate the schema, infer data types or remove duplicate rows. If you need a guaranteed CSV for import, use a dedicated CSV library or spreadsheet export and test the result with the receiving system.
When the aligned view is useful
Use it to scan a small export for missing values, obvious outliers or shifted columns. It can help you compare a few rows before writing a script. It is also handy for documentation and examples where a readable table matters more than machine parsing. Do not use it as the source of truth for a data migration or a bulk import.
Limits and server processing
The form accepts up to 200,000 characters and sends the input to the server for formatting. Very large files should be processed locally. The URL option fetches a public file on the server, so the remote host sees the request. A login-protected URL will not work. The page does not store the output as a permanent file; download it if you need a copy.
Privacy and sensitive data
CSV exports often contain names, email addresses, order details or financial records. Because the manual editor sends the text to the server, avoid pasting sensitive data unless you accept that handling. Use a local spreadsheet or command-line tool for confidential datasets. The URL fetch also means the server, not your browser, retrieves the file.
Common problems
If the columns do not line up, the input may use a different delimiter or contain an unclosed quote. If the output looks like a single column, check for semicolons or tabs. If a quoted comma splits a field, inspect the source and use a proper CSV parser. If the request is rejected, the input may exceed 200,000 characters. If the page times out, split the file.
What not to do
Do not save the beautified pipe view as a .csv file and expect a spreadsheet to parse it. Do not assume the parser handles every dialect of CSV. Do not paste confidential exports into the page without checking the privacy implications. Do not use the tool to validate a schema or clean data. Do not treat a successful display as proof that the CSV is well formed.
A safer workflow
Keep the original file unchanged. Use the beautifier only to inspect a copy. If you need to clean or transform the data, use a CSV library that exposes delimiter, quote and encoding options. Validate the row and column counts after the transformation. Import into a test environment before touching production data, and keep a backup of the original export.
Inspecting data without changing it
A beautifier should help you look, not quietly rewrite your source. Keep the original export open in another window and compare row counts before and after you copy anything. If the aligned view shows a missing cell, go back to the raw text and find the exact quote or delimiter that caused it. Do not “fix” the display by adding spaces or pipes to the original file; that changes the data. If you need a clean copy, work from the original and use a CSV-aware editor.
Encoding and unusual characters
CSV files may use UTF-8, a local code page or a byte-order mark. Accented letters, currency symbols and emoji can look broken if the wrong encoding is assumed. The page displays what the browser receives; it does not offer an encoding picker. If the text looks garbled, open the file in a spreadsheet or a text editor that lets you choose the encoding, save a UTF-8 copy and try again. Never guess at a repair for financial or identity data.
