What DCECE covers in Bihar

The DCECE admission in Bihar covers the diploma programmes in civil engineering and electrical engineering offered by the state polytechnic institutions, and it sits alongside the other diploma routes that the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board manages. The board's diploma counselling covers lateral entry as well as fresh admission.

The specification is quoted entirely in pixels with no centimetre figure and no resolution variants: a 200 by 250 pixel photograph and a 300 by 100 pixel signature. The photograph ceiling is 100 KB with a floor of 10 KB, and the signature ceiling is the same 100 KB with a much lower floor of 5 KB. The wider photograph and the relatively generous ceiling are the two things worth noting before you start compressing.

This page sets out the numbers DCECE actually asks for. It is not a general guide to cropping or to the tool interface, because those instructions do not change from one exam to the next and they are written up separately.

What the DCECE form asks you to upload

There are two separate uploads to prepare. They are:

  • A photograph at 200 x 250 px, no heavier than 100 KB and no lighter than 10 KB.
  • A signature at 300 x 100 px, no heavier than 100 KB and no lighter than 5 KB.

The DCECE numbers, and why they matter

Unlike exams that quote centimetres, DCECE gives a pixel dimension. That makes the requirement exact rather than resolution dependent: 200 x 250 pixels is what the portal measures, and there is nothing to interpret.

The DCECE photograph allowance runs up to 100 KB with a floor of 10 KB. Since there is little or nothing to overshoot downwards, the practical pressure on this record is the ceiling rather than the floor.

If the DCECE application refuses your file

  • A DCECE rejection usually comes down to one of two things. Either the file is over 100 KB because the crop left too much empty background, or the photo itself has a non plain background, a tilt, or a filter. Fix the weight first since it is measurable, then the photograph.
  • For the DCECE signature, keep the crop tight around the ink. The 300 x 100 px frame is small, so every extra millimetre of empty paper is weight you do not have, and the 100 KB ceiling does not leave room for it.
  • Two identical rejections usually mean the specification moved rather than the file. Compare the table above against the current notification before you generate a third attempt.

Frequently Asked Questions

A dedicated guide covers the crop frame, the face mask, and the compression range, none of which change with the exam you are applying to. Read the shared photo and signature guide.

FAQ

Short answers for the questions users ask before trusting the result.

200 x 250 px at 96 DPI, in JPEG, with the file kept at or under 100 KB and not under 10 KB. That row in the table is the preset the tool applies when DCECE is selected.

300 x 100 px at 96 DPI, in JPEG, capped at 100 KB with 5 KB as the floor. Crop close to the ink so the empty paper around it does not push the file past the ceiling.

The ceiling is 100 KB and the floor is 10 KB. Compression runs on export until the output fits, and the result card prints the achieved weight against the limit rather than leaving you to check it yourself.

JPEG, straight from the download. If the file gets re-saved on the way to upload, the portal can read a different byte weight and occasionally a different resolution from the one DCECE expects.

The stored photo row is 200 x 250 px at 10-100 KB and the signature row is 300 x 100 px at 5-100 KB, both JPEG.

This preset contains photo and signature rows only. Follow the current DCECE notice for any certificate or document upload.
