Combine and Merge Multiple PDF in One PDF File

Combine and Merge Multiple PDF lets you put several PDF files into one document, or pull selected pages from each file into a new PDF. Add the files, arrange their order, choose the pages you need, and download the result.

The page counts pages in the browser so you can see what each file contains. The actual import and merge work happens on the server, which handles the PDF structure and returns a temporary download link.

It is a practical tool for combining a cover sheet, a signed form and an appendix, or for extracting a few pages from a long report without opening a desktop editor.

What the tool can do

The uploader accepts PDF files only, up to 50 MB per file. There is no fixed limit on the number of files or the total page count in the code, but very large jobs are limited by the browser and server. Each uploaded file appears as a card with its page count and a page-selection control.

You can reorder the cards by dragging. The order of the cards determines the order of the pages in the output when you merge. “Use all pages from this file” is on by default; turn it off to choose individual pages or ranges.

A toggle controls whether selected pages from all files are combined into one PDF. With the toggle off, each file produces its own output. That makes the same page useful for both merging and splitting.

How to merge PDFs

  1. Drag several PDFs onto the dropzone, or click to select them.
  2. Wait for each card to show its page count.
  3. Drag the cards into the order you want.
  4. Leave “Use all pages” on for a complete merge, or turn it off and enter page numbers and ranges.
  5. Turn on “Merge selected pages from all files into one PDF” if you want a single combined file.
  6. Click the action button and wait for the server to finish.
  7. Download the resulting PDF from the link that appears.

Duplicate filenames are rejected so the tool does not confuse two files with the same name. Rename one of the files before uploading if that happens.

Selecting pages and ranges

When “Use all pages” is off, the page control accepts tokens such as 5 for a single page and 5-10 for an inclusive range. You can combine several tokens to pick non-contiguous pages. The tool validates the request against the real page count, so a page number beyond the end of the file is rejected rather than silently ignored.

Page numbers are one-based: page 1 is the first page. Ranges are inclusive, so 2-4 includes pages 2, 3 and 4. Check the order of the tokens if the output sequence matters; a range is appended in the order you enter it.

If you only need one page from a large PDF, turn off “Use all pages” and enter that page number. The server imports only the requested page, which keeps the output small.

Merged versus separate output

With the merge toggle on, selected pages from every card are appended into one PDF in card order. This is the mode for a combined application pack, a report with appendices, or a set of scanned forms.

With the toggle off, each card produces a separate PDF. Use this when you want to split a batch of files into individual documents, or when you are extracting a page range from each file and do not want them joined.

The button label still refers to splitting in some states, but the toggle is the reliable indicator of the output. Check the download links: one link means a merged file; several links mean separate files.

Limits and common failures

Encrypted or corrupt PDFs may fail during page counting or merging. Remove the password in a PDF reader first, or ask the sender for an unlocked copy. A scanned PDF with no text layer is still a valid PDF; the tool works on pages, not on searchable text.

A file larger than 50 MB is rejected by the server. Very large page counts can also take longer than expected. If a job stalls, reduce the number of files or split the work into smaller batches.

For a clean result, check the page order before downloading. The tool does not preview page thumbnails, so the card order and the page tokens are your only controls. Open the downloaded PDF and verify the first and last pages.

Privacy and temporary files

The PDFs are uploaded to the server for processing. The output is stored in a temporary upload area and is cleaned up automatically after about an hour. Download the result promptly; do not treat the link as permanent storage.

Do not upload confidential documents to a shared computer without clearing the download afterward. The page does not create an account or a document library, but the file still travels over the network and is written to temporary storage.

The tool is not a PDF editor. It does not change text, add signatures, compress images, remove passwords or repair a damaged file. It combines and extracts pages, then returns a new PDF.

Building a document pack

A common use is a pack with a cover page, a main form and an appendix. Upload the cover first, then the form, then the appendix, and confirm the card order before merging. If the main form has a signature page that must stay at the end, extract it as a separate PDF and place it last rather than relying on the original file order.

Use page ranges when a source PDF contains material you do not want to include. For example, a 20-page report may need only pages 1, 3 and 15-18. Enter those tokens on that file's card and leave the other files on “Use all pages”. The merge then follows the card order and the selected pages within each card.

The tool does not add bookmarks, a table of contents or page numbers. If the pack needs navigation, add those after merging in a PDF editor. It also does not compress images, so a pack of scanned pages can be large even when the page count is modest.

Checking the finished PDF

Open the downloaded file and check the first page, the last page and every transition between source files. A missing page is easier to spot at a boundary than in the middle. Confirm that the page orientation is consistent and that no page was rotated unexpectedly.

If a signature or stamp must remain visible, check that the merge did not flatten it or shift it. The tool imports pages as they are, but a malformed source PDF can render differently in another viewer. Test in the same viewer your recipient is likely to use.

Rename the result with a meaningful name and store it in the right folder immediately. The temporary download link is not a filing system, and the server cleans up old files automatically.

Yes. Turn off “Use all pages” and enter page numbers or ranges such as 5 or 5-10, then enable the merge toggle for a single output.

The output is stored temporarily and cleaned up after about an hour. Download it promptly; the link is not permanent storage.

Yes, as long as the file is a valid PDF. The tool works on pages, not on searchable text, so a scan can be merged like any other PDF.
