What Is the Crypto Gas Fee Calculator?

The Crypto Gas Fee Calculator is a free online tool that shows what the same blockchain transaction would cost on 14 EVM networks at the same moment. Gas is the unit of work on any EVM chain: every send, swap, approval or mint burns a set number of gas units, and the network charges a live price for each unit. This calculator reads that live price from the network itself, works out the fee, and prints it in the chain native token and in your own currency. One table, fourteen networks, one clear answer to a practical question: where is it cheapest to transact right now?

Why Use It and Who It Is For

Network fees change by the minute and they differ wildly between chains. A plain transfer that costs a fraction of a cent on a sidechain can cost several dollars on Ethereum mainnet during a busy hour. The tool is built for anyone who pays those fees and wants a comparison before acting.

  • Crypto users who move coins between wallets and want the cheapest route today.
  • DeFi traders comparing the cost of a swap on Ethereum against Arbitrum, Optimism, Base or Polygon.
  • NFT creators checking what a mint will cost before a collection launch.
  • Developers and testers who deploy or call contracts on several chains and need a quick cost sanity check.
  • People paid in local currency who want the fee in INR, BDT, BRL, NGN or any of the 20 supported currencies instead of raw gwei.
  • Bridgers who must factor the sending chain fee into a cross-chain transfer.

How This Tool Works

The arithmetic is deliberately simple and matches what every EVM wallet does:

Fee in token = gas used x gas price (gwei) x 10^-9
Fee in your currency = fee in token x token price in USD x USD exchange rate

Gas price comes from an eth_gasPrice call made to public RPC endpoints listed for each chain. The service tries those endpoints in order with a 4 second timeout and discards answers outside a sane range of 0.000001 to 10000 gwei, so a broken node cannot poison the table. Speed tiers are fixed multipliers on that base number: Standard uses the node price as it is, Fast multiplies it by 1.5 and Instant by 2.0. That is a practical way to model the higher tip a wallet adds when you want faster inclusion.

Token prices for ETH, BNB, AVAX, POL, xDAI, CELO, FTM and ONE are read from Binance spot tickers, with Coinbase spot prices as a fallback. The fiat rate for your selected currency comes from the exchange rate service, and USD is fixed at 1. Market data is cached on the server for 60 seconds and reloaded in the browser every 60 seconds, while raw upstream payloads stay fresh for one hour. If a chain RPC is unreachable the last stored value is reused and flagged, and if nothing is stored the tool falls back to a fixed snapshot gas price of 5, 7.5 and 10 gwei so the page still renders. The status badge tells you which situation you are in: Live data, Partially live or Stale data.

Key Features

  • 14 EVM networks: Ethereum and Avalanche as Layer 1, Arbitrum One, Optimism, Base, zkSync Era, Linea and Scroll as Layer 2, and BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Gnosis, Celo, Fantom and Harmony as sidechains.
  • Live gas prices fetched from public RPC nodes, with several fallback endpoints per chain.
  • Seven transaction presets: ETH transfer 21,000 gas, ERC-20 transfer 65,000, token approval 46,000, contract interaction 100,000, DEX swap 180,000, NFT mint 250,000, plus a custom amount.
  • Custom gas field with a minimum of 1 and a step of 1000.
  • Standard, Fast and Instant speed tiers.
  • 20 display currencies from USD and EUR to BDT, PKR, NGN and VND.
  • Search box plus a Layer 1, Layer 2 or Sidechain dropdown to filter the table.
  • Sortable columns: click a header to sort, click again to reverse the order.
  • Cheapest matching chain highlighted in the table and named in the big summary card.
  • Refresh button, automatic 60 second reload, and CSV export of the current view.
  • Status badge and update timestamp so you always know how fresh the numbers are.

How to Use This Tool

  1. Pick your Local Currency from the dropdown. The page reloads market data for that currency.
  2. Choose a Transaction Type. The hint under the field shows the exact gas units for that preset.
  3. If you selected Custom Gas Amount, type the exact units in Used Gas Input.
  4. Click Standard, Fast or Instant to set the speed tier.
  5. Optionally type a chain or token name in Filter Chains and pick a layer below it.
  6. Read the blue summary card: estimated fee on the cheapest chain, gas used, gas price in gwei, and the chain name.
  7. Scan the table for the full comparison. The cheapest row carries a green Cheapest badge.
  8. Click Refresh for a fresh pull, or Export CSV to download the visible rows with columns for chain, layer, token, token price, gas used, gas price, fee in token and fee in your currency.

Limits and Rules

The market data endpoint is throttled to 60 requests per minute, so normal interactive use is never affected but automated hammering will be rejected. Every number here is an estimate, not a quote: the gas used figures for presets are typical averages, and a complex contract call can use more or less than the preset. Public RPC nodes are shared infrastructure, so occasional slow or failed responses are normal and the badge will honestly say Partially live or Stale data. Token prices and fiat rates are indicative and may lag your exchange by a few seconds. The tool needs no wallet connection, never asks for a private key and never signs anything. Use it for personal comparison and research, and do not wrap it in scripts that poll it continuously.

When to Use It and When Not To

Use it when you are about to send or swap and want to know which network costs least, when you are planning a bridge and need to budget the sending fee, when you are deciding where to deploy a contract, or when you simply want to understand why your wallet quoted what it quoted. Switch to the custom gas field whenever a preset does not match your contract, because the presets describe common operations rather than your specific call.

Do not use it when you need the exact fee your wallet will charge at the moment of signing, since congestion can move in the seconds between loading the page and confirming. It is also the wrong tool for historical gas analysis, because the calculator shows the live snapshot rather than a time series, and for non-EVM networks such as Bitcoin or Solana, which are not part of the 14 supported chains.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pertanyaan yang Sering Diajukan

Jawaban singkat atas pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang diajukan pengguna sebelum mempercayai hasilnya.

Gas is the unit of work on an EVM network. Every operation burns a fixed number of gas units, and the network charges a live price for each unit. The fee you pay is those two numbers multiplied together.

It changes with network demand. The tool calculates the fee for every supported chain at the current gas price and highlights the cheapest one in green, so the answer is the one you see on screen at that moment.

Yes. On EVM chains the gas fee is the transaction fee. The calculator shows the total network cost in the chain native token and converts it into your selected currency.

Standard uses the gas price returned by the chain node. Fast multiplies it by 1.5 and Instant by 2.0, which mirrors the extra tip a wallet adds to get a transaction included sooner during congestion.

Layer 2 networks process transactions on their own chain and settle back to Ethereum later, so the gas price their nodes report is the price you pay on that Layer 2. That is why the same operation can cost cents there and dollars on mainnet.

Gas prices come from public RPC nodes and token prices from public market APIs, both refreshed every 60 seconds. Real fees can still move a few percent with congestion and with the gas limit your wallet sets, so treat the result as a well-informed estimate rather than a guaranteed price.
