What the Telangana Public Service Commission is

The Telangana Public Service Commission handles recruitment for Telangana government departments and runs a large calendar of computer-based recruitment examinations as well as departmental tests and direct recruitment. Its current notifications cover posts including Town Planning Assistant, Assistant Executive Engineer in Transport Roads and Buildings, Deputy Educational Officer and Manager Engineering for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board.

Telangana is the widest specification in this group, because different recruitment streams publish different accepted sizes. Alongside the standard 3.5 by 4.5 centimetre frame at 96 and 200 DPI, the record stores a 125 by 165 pixel photo for Group 2, Group 4 and Group examinations, each with an alternate variant, and a 275 by 354 pixel option. The group-wise rows are separate notifications rather than alternatives within one form, so match the row to the particular recruitment you are sitting for.

Notifications for TSPSC are published at tgpsc.gov.in. Read the upload instructions from the notification on that site, not from a coaching summary or an older application, because the portal validates against the specification that was current when the form was built.

This page sets out the numbers TSPSC actually asks for. It is not a general guide to cropping or to the tool interface, because those instructions do not change from one exam to the next and they are written up separately.

What the TSPSC form asks you to upload

Two files go into this form. They are:

• A photograph at 3.5 x 4.5 cm, no heavier than 500 KB and no lighter than 50 KB.
• A signature at 3.5 x 1.5 cm, no heavier than 500 KB and no lighter than 50 KB.

The TSPSC numbers, and why they matter

TSPSC publishes its sizes in both units, which means the record is offering you two ways to express the same kind of requirement. Pick the row that matches how your own advertisement is worded: centimetres when the notification states a physical frame, pixels when it states a resolution. They are alternatives published for different notifications, not a sequence to apply in turn.

Resolution appears more than once in the TSPSC record, at 200 and 96 DPI. That is not a contradiction: the physical frame is the same in both, and the choice is how densely the image is stored. Where an advertisement is silent, the 200 DPI row is the safer one, because a denser image still measures correctly at a lower resolution while the reverse is not true.

TSPSC sets a floor as well as a ceiling. The photo has to land between 50 KB and 500 KB, and the signature between 50 KB and 500 KB. A file far below the minimum can fail the portal check even though it is technically under the limit, which is why the tool exposes a minimum field next to the maximum.

The TSPSC record offers 7 photo options and 7 signature options: 3.5 x 4.5 cm; 125 x 165 px; 275 x 354 px. These come from different notifications and different recruitment streams rather than from one form, so there is no single right answer to which to use. Take the size from the advertisement you are actually applying under, and if it names a size that is not listed here, enter it by hand in the width and height fields.

Several TSPSC rows are marked as alternates, which indicates the commission has published more than one accepted figure for the same recruitment stream. The alternate is there so that candidates working from different versions of the notification are not blocked by a strict check, and it is safe to use whichever matches the document in front of you.

If the TSPSC application refuses your file

• A TSPSC rejection usually comes down to one of two things. Either the file is over 500 KB because the crop left too much empty background, or the photo itself has a non plain background, a tilt, or a filter. Fix the weight first since it is measurable, then the photograph.
• Check the signature separately from the photo. A 3.5 x 1.5 cm box with a wide margin around the writing will breach the 500 KB ceiling on its own, which is a different fix from anything that applies to the photograph.
• If the same file is refused twice with identical settings, stop retrying and re-read the notification. Requirements do get revised by corrigendum, and the numbers stored in this tool reflect the specification as recorded.
