BUET admission and its smaller file limits

The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology admits students to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through competitive tests. The application portal asks for a photograph and signature, but the stored BUET limits are tighter than those used by many other universities. A file prepared for a general admission form may be far too heavy here, so resize before you start the application.

Choosing the right photo row

Pick the undergraduate row if you are applying for a bachelor's programme and the postgraduate row if you are applying for a master's or doctoral programme. Both use the same 300 x 350 px frame, but the postgraduate ceiling is lower. If you are unsure, prepare the smaller file first; it fits both rows.

Cropping and quality

Use a recent, sharp portrait against a plain background. Keep the face centred and the head inside the frame, with the shoulders just visible at the bottom. Because the weight ceiling is low, crop close to the face before reducing the JPEG quality. A heavily compressed background is less noticeable than a heavily compressed face.

Signature preparation

Sign on white paper with a fine black or blue pen and scan it flat. Crop to 300 x 80 px, keeping the full signature inside the box. The stored range is only 4 KB to 20 KB, so a large colour scan will need compression. Check that the strokes remain separate after saving.

Tool limits

The resizer does not decide which BUET programme row applies to you, and it cannot guarantee portal acceptance. It crops, resizes, converts, and compresses the file. Keep the original scan and the downloaded JPEG until the application is complete.
