What SBI recruitment involves

The State Bank of India recruits across its branches and offices through its own career portal, covering clerk, cash attendant and multidimensional roles alongside officer and assistant manager recruitment. Each advertisement is published separately and carries its own document checklist, and the photograph and signature are uploaded at the point of registration rather than at the examination stage.

The specification carries two further images beyond the portrait and signature: a left thumb impression and a hand written declaration, both with preferred pixel sizes of 240 by 240 and 800 by 400, and each also published in centimetres. Those two documents are produced on paper rather than cropped from a digital photograph, so they need their own source images. The weight ceilings are among the tighter ones on the site, with the photograph at 50 KB and the signature at 20 KB, so a loosely cropped scan will not fit.

Start from www.sbi.co.in/careers for the SBI notice. Where a third-party page lists a different size from the one in the table above, the notice wins, and a correction published later can supersede both.

This page sets out the numbers SBI actually asks for. It is not a general guide to cropping or to the tool interface, because those instructions do not change from one exam to the next and they are written up separately.

What the SBI form asks you to upload

This form asks for 4 separate images, which is more than most examinations require, and each one is validated on its own. They are:

• A photograph at 200 x 230 px, no heavier than 50 KB and no lighter than 20 KB.
• A signature at 140 x 60 px, no heavier than 20 KB and no lighter than 10 KB.
• A left thumb impression at 240 x 240 px, up to 50 KB.
• A hand written declaration at 800 x 400 px, up to 100 KB.

The SBI numbers, and why they matter

SBI publishes its sizes in both units, which means the record is offering two ways to express the same kind of requirement. Pick the row that matches how your own advertisement is worded: centimetres when the notification states a physical frame, pixels when it states a resolution. They are alternatives published for different notifications, not a sequence to apply in turn.

The SBI table lists DPI values of 200 and 96 against what is otherwise the same frame. Both entries describe identical dimensions, so the decision is resolution quality rather than size. Take the higher value unless the notification names the lower one.

SBI sets a floor as well as a ceiling. The photograph has to land between 20 KB and 50 KB, and the signature between 10 KB and 20 KB. A file far below the minimum can fail the portal check even though it is technically under the limit, which is why the tool exposes a minimum field next to the maximum.

The SBI record offers 3 photograph options and 3 signature options: 200 x 230 px; 3.5 x 4.5 cm. These come from different notifications and different recruitment streams rather than from one form, so there is no single right answer to which to use. Take the size from the advertisement you are actually applying under, and if it names a size that is not listed here, enter it by hand in the width and height fields.

Several SBI presets are labelled preferred in the stored specification, including 200 x 230 px for the photo and 140 x 60 px for the signature and 240 x 240 px for the document. The label signals what the board expects to see most often across its notifications. It is a preference rather than a restriction, but where the notification leaves the choice open the preferred row is the safer pick.

The SBI form asks for 2 document images beyond the photograph and signature: 240 x 240 px at up to 50 KB; 800 x 400 px at up to 100 KB; 240 x 240 px at up to 50 KB; 800 x 400 px at up to 100 KB; 3 x 3 cm at up to 50 KB; 10 x 5 cm at up to 100 KB; 3 x 3 cm at up to 50 KB; 10 x 5 cm at up to 100 KB. Each is validated separately, so a correct portrait does not offset a document that falls outside its own specification.

If the SBI application refuses your file

• If SBI refuses a file, start with the weight on the result card against the 50 KB, then look at the picture. At this ceiling, an uncropped phone photo straight off the camera will not fit, so crop before you compress rather than after.
• Check the signature separately from the photograph. A 140 x 60 px box with a wide margin around the writing will breach the 20 KB ceiling on its own, which is a different fix from anything that applies to the portrait.
• A third attempt with the same settings will produce the same result. Read the current notification again, because the specification is corrected by corrigendum from time to time and the values in this tool follow the specification as recorded.
