What the Uttar Pradesh D.El.Ed qualification is

The Diploma in Elementary Education in Uttar Pradesh is the teaching qualification for the primary level, taken by candidates who intend to teach in Classes 1 to 5. It is run through the state education department, and qualification in it is what the Uttar Pradesh teacher recruitment processes look for when they shortlist candidates for primary school posts.

The photograph and signature limits on this record are among the tightest for the boards in this group. The photograph is capped at 50 KB with a 10 KB floor and the signature at 20 KB with a 5 KB floor, and everything is quoted at 96 DPI rather than the 200 DPI used by most state commissions. A file at the lower bound is very small, so the quality of the source photograph matters more here than on a board with a 500 KB ceiling: compressing down to 5 KB is only acceptable if the original was sharp to begin with.

This page sets out the numbers D.El.Ed actually asks for. It is not a general guide to cropping or to the tool interface, because those instructions do not change from one exam to the next and they are written up separately.

What the D.El.Ed form asks you to upload

Two files go into this form. They are:

  • A photograph at 3.5 x 4.5 cm, no heavier than 50 KB and no lighter than 10 KB.
  • A signature at 3.5 x 1.5 cm, no heavier than 20 KB and no lighter than 5 KB.

The D.El.Ed numbers, and why they matter

Notice that the D.El.Ed figures are measurements in centimetres, not pixels. At 96 DPI a 3.5 by 4.5 centimetre frame is a specific pixel count, and the tool derives it rather than guessing. A photo that is the right number of pixels but the wrong DPI reads as the wrong size to a portal that checks both.

The D.El.Ed photograph allowance runs up to 50 KB with a floor of 10 KB. Since there is little or nothing to overshoot downwards, the practical pressure on this record is the ceiling rather than the floor.

If the D.El.Ed application refuses your file

  • A D.El.Ed rejection usually comes down to one of two things. Either the file is over 50 KB because the crop left too much empty background, or the photo itself has a non plain background, a tilt, or a filter. Fix the weight first since it is measurable, then the photograph.
  • For the D.El.Ed signature, keep the crop tight around the ink. The 3.5 x 1.5 cm frame is small, so every extra millimetre of empty paper is weight you do not have, and the 20 KB ceiling does not leave room for it.
  • Two identical rejections usually mean the specification moved rather than the file. Compare the table above against the current notification before you generate a third attempt.

FAQ

Short answers for the questions users ask before trusting the result.

3.5 x 4.5 cm at 96 DPI, in JPEG, with the file kept at or under 50 KB and not under 10 KB. That row in the table is the preset the tool applies when D.El.Ed is selected.

3.5 x 1.5 cm at 96 DPI, in JPEG, capped at 20 KB with 5 KB as the floor. Crop close to the ink so the empty paper around it does not push the file past the ceiling.

The ceiling is 50 KB and the floor is 10 KB. Compression runs on export until the output fits, and the result card prints the achieved weight against the limit rather than leaving you to check it yourself.

JPEG. Save it in that format when you download. Converting afterwards, or letting a messaging app re-encode it, adds weight and can quietly change the dimensions the portal measures.

The stored photo row is 10-50 KB and the signature row is 5-20 KB. The signature frame is much smaller, so it needs a lighter file.

No. The photo is 3.5 x 4.5 cm and the signature is 3.5 x 1.5 cm. Crop each one separately and keep the face or the full signature inside its own frame.
