KSET photo and signature in pixels
KSET is the Karnataka State Eligibility Test for lectureship and research eligibility. The application uses small pixel-based images rather than centimetre sizes, so the preset list is deliberately specific.
This page crops to the stored KSET shapes and compresses the photo and signature toward their separate byte windows. It does not submit the KSET application.
Stored KSET values
| Upload | Pixels | Byte window | Format | DPI |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Photo | 133×170 | 10–100 KB | JPEG | 96 |
| Signature | 133×57 | 5–30 KB | JPEG | 96 |
These are stored values. The current KSET notification is the authority; confirm the pixel shape and byte limits before uploading. The presets have not been changed.
Why pixel sizes matter here
A centimetre preset that looks similar on screen can produce a different pixel count. For KSET, choose the 133×170 photo or 133×57 signature preset directly. Do not resize a centimetre file by eye and assume it matches.
Photo and signature workflow
Use a recent colour photo on a plain background, with the face centred and eyes open. For the signature, sign on white paper with dark ink and crop tightly around the strokes. Check the downloaded width, height and byte count before uploading.

Common KSET upload mistakes
The most common mistake is using a centimetre preset when the form expects 133×170 px. Another is uploading a signature that is wider than 133×57 px. Check the pixel dimensions in the downloaded file properties, not only the preview on screen.
Photo use beyond the form
KSET may use the uploaded photo on the hall ticket and attendance sheet. A clear, recognisable face matters beyond the upload screen. Avoid a photo that is several years old or heavily edited, even if it fits the pixel shape.
Check the final crop
If the portal shows a crop box after upload, compare it with the downloaded file. A correct 133×170 image can still fail if the portal crop cuts the chin or the signature edge.
