NMAT photo and signature sizes
NMAT by GMAC uses an online registration and scheduling system. The stored NMAT record lists minimum pixel shapes rather than a single fixed crop, so the tool applies the minimum width and height and lets the portal accept a larger file if its rule allows.
This page prepares a clean JPEG for both uploads. It does not schedule the test or submit the application.
Stored NMAT values
| Upload | Minimum shape | Byte window | Format | DPI |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Photo | 200×230 px | 10–1000 KB | JPEG | 96 |
| Signature | 140×60 px | 10–200 KB | JPEG | 96 |
These are stored values. The current NMAT instructions are the authority; confirm the accepted shape and limits before uploading. The presets have not been changed.
What “minimum” means here
A minimum shape is not a promise that every larger image will be accepted. It means the stored preset will not go below 200×230 px for the photo or 140×60 px for the signature. If the portal asks for a different shape, use the actual instruction rather than enlarging the minimum blindly.
Photo and signature advice
Use a recent colour photo on a plain light background, with the face centred and eyes open. For the signature, sign on white paper with dark ink and crop around the strokes. Check that the downloaded file is a JPEG and that it opens at full size.

Common NMAT upload mistakes
A photo below 200×230 px, a signature below 140×60 px or a file above the stored ceiling can fail. Check the pixel dimensions and byte count together. Do not enlarge a tiny screenshot; start from a larger original if the face looks soft.
Keep the file for scheduling
NMAT candidates may need the same photo later in the scheduling or admit-card process. Keep the processed JPEG and the original image together. If the portal asks for a different crop, you can produce a fresh file without another photo session.
