SNAP photo and signature uploads
SNAP is the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test used for admission to participating management institutes. The application asks for a photo and signature, and the stored SNAP record allows a much larger file than many other entrance tests.
A large maximum does not mean you should upload a huge file. Use a clean, readable image and keep it well below the stored ceiling unless the portal specifically asks for more.
Stored SNAP values
| Upload | Shape | Byte window | Format | DPI |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Photo | 3.5×4.5 cm | 10–5000 KB | JPEG | 200 |
| Signature | 3.5×1.5 cm | 10–5000 KB | JPEG | 200 |
These are stored values. The SNAP application instructions are the authority; confirm the current limits before uploading. The presets have not been changed.
Why the window is wide
The stored ceiling is 5,000 KB, which is roughly 5 MB. That gives room for a high-quality photo, but it also makes it easy to upload a file that is unnecessarily large. A moderate JPEG usually loads faster and is easier to verify on the review screen.
Preparing the photo and signature
Use a recent colour photo on a plain background, with the face centred and eyes open. For the signature, sign on white paper with dark ink and crop around the strokes. Check that the downloaded file opens correctly and that the dimensions match the stored shape.

Common SNAP upload mistakes
A very large file, a screenshot of a photo or a signature with a shadow can fail even inside the wide 5 MB window. Use a moderate JPEG and check the dimensions. The portal may also reject a file whose extension does not match its actual format.
The ceiling is not a target
A 5 MB allowance does not make a 5 MB file better. A moderate JPEG loads faster and is easier to inspect. Use the smallest file that still keeps the face and signature clear, and check the dimensions before uploading.
