What this converter does

This page converts JPEG images to WebP. You can add several files, leave the output format on WebP, set a quality level, and optionally resize by pixels, percent, inches, centimetres or millimetres. The server processes each file and returns a download for every result.

It is a batch converter, not an editor. There is no crop box, brush, text tool or layer panel. If a photo needs straightening or retouching, do that first and then convert the finished file.

Why convert JPEG to WebP

WebP usually produces a smaller file than JPEG at a similar visual quality. That matters for page weight, mobile data and image-heavy pages. A smaller file can load faster without changing the displayed dimensions.

JPEG has no transparency, so converting a JPEG to WebP does not create transparency. The benefit is compression and, in some workflows, a more modern format for the web. If you need alpha, start from a PNG or a WebP that already has an alpha channel.

WebP is supported by modern browsers and most current image editors. Older software, some print workflows and a few upload portals may still reject it. Keep the JPEG original until you have confirmed that the destination accepts WebP.

Quality and file size

The default quality is 75 percent. That is a sensible starting point for photographs: it usually cuts the file substantially without obvious loss at normal viewing size. Raise it to 85 or 90 for detailed textures, small text or images that will be viewed large. Lower it toward 60 when page weight matters more than fine detail.

Quality is not the only factor. A noisy photo, a detailed landscape or a screenshot with small text needs more data than a soft portrait or a flat graphic. Check one output at 100 percent before converting a whole folder.

Repeated conversion is lossy. Opening a JPEG, saving it as WebP, converting it back and saving again adds artifacts each time. Work from the original JPEG and keep an untouched copy.

Batch workflow

Add the files, choose WebP, set the quality and any resize options, then process. Each card shows the file name and progress. Download the results individually; the page does not bundle them into a ZIP archive.

Use one test image first. If the result is too soft, raise the quality. If it is too large, resize down before lowering quality further; reducing pixel dimensions usually saves more bytes than aggressive compression and keeps the image cleaner.

Keep a naming pattern so you can tell the original from the converted copy. A file called photo.jpg and a file called photo.webp in the same folder are easy to confuse.

Resize and DPI

Resize is optional. Pixel mode takes an exact width and height; percent mode scales the original; physical units combine a size with DPI. If you only need a smaller file, try a modest pixel reduction before dropping quality.

DPI is metadata for print sizing. It does not add detail to a screen image. For web use, the pixel dimensions are what matter. For a print shop, set the physical size and DPI together and confirm the resulting pixels.

Compatibility and fallback

If you are publishing on the web, keep a JPEG fallback for software that cannot read WebP. A picture element with a WebP source and a JPEG fallback lets modern browsers take the smaller file while older clients still get an image.

For email, older desktop software and some document templates, JPEG is still the safer choice. Convert to WebP for the web copy, not necessarily for every copy you keep.

What it cannot do

It cannot add transparency to a JPEG, restore detail lost in an earlier compression, preserve an animated sequence or edit the content of the image. It does not remove backgrounds, crop to a ratio or add text.

It also does not guarantee a specific file size. Quality and dimensions influence the result, but the final bytes depend on the image content.

Privacy and limits

The files are uploaded to the server for processing. Do not use a public converter for identity documents, private client work or anything you would not send to a third-party service. The page does not offer a local-only mode.

Large batches and very large images can hit server upload or memory limits. Split the batch if processing stalls, and keep the originals until the converted set has been checked.

Common conversion problems

A photo can change orientation after conversion if the original relied on an EXIF rotation flag. Check portrait and landscape images, not just one test file. A colour shift is also possible when a wide-gamut source is written without its profile; compare the result with the original on the same screen.

If the WebP is larger than the JPEG, the original may already be heavily compressed or very small. Lowering quality further can make it worse without saving much. In that case, keep the JPEG or resize the image before converting.

Using WebP on a web page

A picture element can offer WebP first and JPEG as a fallback, so modern browsers get the smaller file while older clients still see an image. Keep both files with the same base name and point the source elements at each format.

WebP also works in CSS backgrounds and image-set rules, but check the browser support you actually need. For a downloadable asset, a clear file name and a consistent width matter more than the format alone.

Naming and caching

Keep the .webp extension so servers and editors identify the file correctly. Renaming a WebP to .jpg does not convert it back, and some upload forms check the real type rather than the name.

If you replace a JPEG with a WebP at the same URL, browsers and CDNs may serve the old cached copy for a while. Give a changed image a new file name or purge the cache. Content negotiation, where one URL serves different formats, needs server support and careful testing.

Keep the original JPEG until the WebP has been checked on the target device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sık Sorulan Sorular

Kullanıcıların sonuca güvenmeden önce sordukları sorulara verilen kısa cevaplar.

No. JPEG has no alpha channel. A transparent WebP must start from a PNG or another image that already has transparency.

Start at 75 for photos, raise it for text or fine detail, and lower it only after checking a sample at normal viewing size.

Usually, but not always. A already-compressed JPEG or a very small image may not shrink much, and a high-quality WebP can be larger than a low-quality JPEG.

Yes. Add multiple images, apply the same settings and download each result.

No. Download each processed file from its card.

No. Treat this as a still-image converter; do not rely on it to keep an animated sequence.

Do not assume EXIF or other metadata survives. Check the result if the destination depends on it.

Yes, for server-side processing. Do not upload private documents to a public converter.
