What Is the IPTV Player and Channel Browser?
The IPTV Player and Channel Browser is a free web tool that lets you search, inspect and play publicly listed internet television streams without installing an app. It reads the open iptv-org database, which collects channel records, stream URLs, logos and program guide sources that their publishers have made public, and presents them through seven simple tabs: Browse, Playlist, Check, Stats, EPG, Logos and Player. You can look up a channel, see every stream address published for it, test whether that address responds, play it in the page, or export a filtered selection as an M3U file for a desktop player such as VLC or Kodi. Everything runs from your browser against that public dataset.
Why Use It and Who It Is For
Internet streams are scattered across hundreds of lists, and checking them one by one is slow. This tool puts discovery, testing and playback in one place.
- Cord cutters who want to find free, publicly available channels from their own country or in their own language.
- Playlist builders who need a clean M3U file filtered to one country or category instead of a giant generic list.
- Developers and QA testers building a media app who need to confirm that a stream URL answers, and see its status code, content type and response time.
- Media server owners preparing channel lineups for VLC, Kodi, IPTV Smarters and similar players.
- Researchers who want a quick view of how channels are distributed across countries, categories and languages.
- Anyone curious who just wants to open a channel and watch it in the browser with no account and no setup.
How This Tool Works
All channel data comes from the iptv-org public API endpoints for channels, streams, logos, guides, feeds, countries, languages and categories. The server downloads those JSON files once and caches them, so the page stays fast: channel, stream and feed data are kept for six hours, program guides for one hour, and logos, countries, languages, categories and the blocklist for twenty-four hours. When you open a tab the server reads from cache instead of hammering the upstream project.
The Browse tab runs a server side search across the cached channels using your text plus the selected country, category and language, then returns one page at a time - twenty-four channels per page by default, and never more than one hundred per request. Clicking a channel loads its stream list, its logos and its feed records together, so the detail panel is a single round trip.
The Playlist tab applies the same filters, counts how many streams match, shows a twelve channel preview, and on request builds a standard #EXTM3U file. Each line carries the stream title, the channel logo and the country and category tags, and the response is sent back as a downloadable playlist.m3u file.
The Check tab sends an HTTP HEAD request to the URL you provide with a ten second timeout and a desktop browser user agent. A successful response returns the status code, the content type header and the round trip time in milliseconds; a failed response returns the HTTP error; a refused or timed out connection is reported as a timeout. The Player tab loads the same URL into a video element, using hls.js for .m3u8 addresses when the browser supports it and native playback otherwise.

How to Use This Tool
- Open the Browse tab and type at least part of a channel name, or narrow the list with All Countries, All Categories and All Languages.
- Page through the results and click a channel card to open its streams, logos and feeds.
- Press Play on any stream to load it in the page, or Check to test it without playing.
- Switch to Playlist, set the same filters, wait for the preview counts, then click Download M3U to save the file.
- Use the Check tab with any m3u8, ts or mpd address you already have to confirm it is reachable.
- Open Stats to see how channels are distributed by country, category and language.
- Open EPG and search a channel to view its guide sources, or Logos to browse channel artwork.
- Open Player, either search a channel or paste a direct stream URL and click Play.
Limits and Rules
Requests are rate limited to keep the shared dataset responsive: channel, stream, logo, guide and playlist preview calls allow thirty per minute; search allows sixty per minute and returns a maximum of twenty suggestions, with queries under two characters ignored; stream checks allow twenty per minute; playlist downloads and the statistics, country, language and category endpoints allow ten per minute. Data is cached, so the same pages may load instantly even when an upstream refresh is still running.
Only streams that their publishers list publicly in the iptv-org project are shown. Availability is not guaranteed: streams go offline, geo blocks apply, and some countries restrict access to certain content. You are responsible for what you watch and where - do not use this tool to bypass licensing rules, blackout restrictions or the law in your jurisdiction, and do not treat a successful check as permission to redistribute anything. Do not script the check endpoint in a tight loop; twenty checks a minute is the ceiling by design.
When to Use It and When Not To
Use it when you want to explore what free public channels exist for a region, build a focused M3U for a player you already own, confirm whether a stream URL is alive before wiring it into an app, or grab a logo and guide source for a channel you are cataloguing. It is also a quick way to watch a public stream in the browser while you decide whether to add it to a playlist.
Do not use it when you need a guaranteed, licensed channel package - this is an index of public streams, not a subscription service. It is the wrong tool for recording, time shifting or downloading content, for streams behind a login, and for anything you are not allowed to view where you live. If a stream keeps failing the check, the address is probably dead or blocked rather than slow.
