The seller side models the 10% selling fee on newer listings, while the buyer side models the 3.6% buyer protection fee and optional sales tax. A legacy listing mode uses the older buyer-fee and payment-processing structure.
The rates and shipping tables are stored in the page. They are estimates, not a quote from Mercari, and the platform can change fees, shipping rates or eligibility rules.

What the calculator shows
The result has three main cards: seller net payout, buyer total cost, and the prepaid shipping label rate. A detailed breakdown under each card lists the item price, shipping, selling fee, service fees, tax, authentication, transfer, and cancellation lines that apply based on the latest Mercari policy updates.
The seller card shows total deductions and a net payout. The buyer card shows extras and the total cost. The shipping card shows the rate for the selected method and weight, incorporating the rates effective from October 19, 2026.
This dual view is essential because Mercari's fee structure changed significantly. While buyers no longer pay a separate payment processing fee on new listings, sellers now pay a 10% selling fee on the combined total of the item price and buyer-paid shipping.

Inputs and options
- Item price: The listing price of your item.
- Shipping method: USPS Ground Advantage, Priority Mail, UPS SurePost, UPS Ground, FedEx Economy, FedEx Home Delivery, Media Mail, or First-Class Envelope.
- Package weight: In pounds or ounces, with updated 2026 carrier rates.
- Who pays shipping: Buyer or seller (this affects the seller's fee base).
- Listing status: New/Updated (10% selling fee applies) or Legacy (old fee structure).
- Sales tax: Estimated percentage for the buyer's final total.
- Authentication: Mercari Authenticate ($5) or with Certificate ($10).
- Transfer method: Standard Direct Deposit (Free) or Instant Pay ($3).
New versus legacy listings
For listings created or updated on or after January 6, 2025, a 10% selling fee is charged to the seller. This fee is calculated based on the item price plus any shipping costs paid by the buyer. In this new model, buyers are no longer charged a payment processing fee.
For legacy listings (created before January 6, 2025), the seller pays no selling fee, but the buyer is charged a payment processing fee of $0.50 plus 2.9% of the total transaction. Note that updating a legacy listing will automatically move it to the new 10% selling fee structure.

Shipping and delivery
Shipping rates are based on the latest 2026 carrier updates. Mercari prepaid labels offer savings of up to 54% compared to retail rates. It is crucial to provide accurate dimensions; packages over 100 lbs or 30" in length are not eligible for standard prepaid labels and may require shipping on your own or flat-rate freight of $2,500 for items over 150 lbs.
How to estimate a payout
- Enter the item price you intend to list.
- Select the shipping method and accurate weight.
- Decide who pays for shipping. Note: If the buyer pays, that amount is included in your 10% selling fee calculation.
- Select whether the listing is "New/Updated" or "Legacy."
- Add any applicable service fees like Mercari Authenticate or Instant Pay transfers.
- Review the Seller Net Payout to see your actual profit.
Cancellations and transfers
Cancellations: If you frequently cancel orders, Mercari may charge a fee of 5% of the item price (maximum $25) to cover operational costs.
Withdrawals: Direct Deposit is now $0 per cash-out. However, a $2 fee applies to any failed deposits caused by incorrect bank information. Instant Pay remains a $3 flat fee for immediate access to your funds.
What is not included
This calculator provides an estimate based on standard Mercari fees and shipping tables. It does not account for dimensional weight surcharges (if your package is large but light), remote area surcharges, or potential income tax liabilities. For items over 100 lbs, you must calculate shipping costs independently.
