CMAT photo and signature uploads
CMAT is a computer-based management entrance test, and the NTA application asks for a photo and signature before the admit card can be generated. This page uses the stored CMAT shapes and byte windows to prepare both files.
The signature window starts at 4 KB, which is lower than many other exams. That does not mean a tiny file is ideal; it means you should check both the minimum and maximum after compression.
Stored CMAT values
| Upload | Shape | Byte window | Format | DPI |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Photo | 3.5×4.5 cm | 10–200 KB | JPEG | 200 |
| Signature | 3.5×1.5 cm | 4–30 KB | JPEG | 200 |
These are stored values. The CMAT information bulletin is the authority; confirm the current shape and limits before uploading. The presets have not been changed.
Preparing the photo
Use a recent colour photo on a plain light background. Face the camera with your eyes open and a neutral expression. Crop so the head and shoulders sit inside the frame without cutting the forehead or chin. Avoid a photo that is already a screenshot, because the extra compression can soften the face.
Preparing the signature
Sign on plain white paper with a dark pen. Photograph it from directly above, crop around the strokes and check the byte count. If the file falls below 4 KB, increase the quality slightly rather than enlarging the image.

Common CMAT upload mistakes
A signature below 4 KB, a photo above 200 KB, an old photo or a screenshot of a photo are frequent causes of rejection. Check the byte count after download, not just the preview. If the signature is too small, raise the quality slightly; if the photo is too large, lower it rather than cropping the head too tightly.
