Stripe Fees Calculator

Stripe Fees Calculator estimates the processing fee and net amount for a payment. Enter an amount, choose a currency and a fee preset, and the page shows what the fee would be and what the seller would receive.

It also works in reverse: switch to Receive mode, enter the amount you want to land in your account, and the calculator estimates the charge needed to cover the fee. That is useful for invoicing and pricing decisions.

The page ships with a set of stored presets. They are a convenience model, not a live quote from Stripe. Your actual fee depends on your country, account, payment method, currency and current pricing.

What the calculator does

The form has an amount field, a currency selector, a fee preset menu, a rounding switch and two mode tabs. In Charging mode, the amount is the customer's payment and the result shows the fee and the net. In Receive mode, the amount is the target net and the result solves for the charge that would produce it.

The fee is calculated as a percentage of the amount plus a fixed component, with optional caps for some presets. The page then subtracts the fee from the charge to show the net. The breakdown line makes the arithmetic visible so you can check the result rather than trusting a single number.

Stripe Standard Pricing Overview (Updated on 30 October, 2026)

Payment Method Standard Fee (Domestic) Additional Notes
Cards (Online) 2.9% + $0.30 Includes Link and digital wallets.
In-person (Terminal) 2.7% + $0.05 Lower fixed fee for physical hardware.
ACH Direct Debit 0.8% (Capped at $5.00) No fixed component; ideal for high-value B2B.
International Cards +1.5% Additional 1% fee if currency conversion is required.
Refunds Fees not returned Original transaction fees are retained by Stripe.

How to use it

  1. Enter the payment amount.
  2. Choose the currency you want to display.
  3. Select the fee preset that matches the payment method. The default is a domestic card preset.
  4. Leave rounding on if you want a clean two-decimal display, or turn it off to see the raw calculation.
  5. Read the fee and net figures, then check the breakdown.
  6. Switch to Receive mode if you need to work backwards from a target payout.

If the amount is zero or negative, the page clears the result rather than showing a negative fee. Stripe does not charge setup fees, monthly fees, or any hidden closure fees, making it easy to model your costs based purely on volume.

The preset menu in plain language

The presets cover common scenarios: domestic cards, manually entered cards, international cards, international cards with currency conversion, Link, instant bank payments, buy-now-pay-later, ACH, stablecoin, invoices, in-person terminal payments, Tap to Pay and a managed platform option. Stripe offers custom pricing for businesses with large processing volumes; if you are on a custom schedule, your specific fees may vary from these standard presets.

For example, the domestic card preset is a percentage plus a small fixed fee, while ACH is a lower percentage with a maximum cap. An invoice preset has a different percentage and cap again. The exact numbers are stored in the page and can change over time; read the preset label and detail text before relying on the result.

Charging mode versus Receive mode

Charging mode answers: “If I charge this amount, what fee is deducted and what do I keep?” Receive mode answers: “If I need this much after fees, what should I charge?” The second calculation is not simply the target plus the fee percentage; the fee is based on the final charge, so the page solves for the charge that produces the target net.

For a simple percentage-only preset, the formula is target divided by one minus the percentage. For a preset with a fixed fee, the fixed amount is added before dividing. For a capped preset, the page uses an iterative search because the cap can make the relationship non-linear.

What the estimate leaves out

This calculator is a planning tool and does not include chargebacks, disputes, currency conversion spreads, or tax. Crucially, payment processing, Connect, and currency conversion fees from the original transaction are not returned during a refund. If you issue a refund, you may lose the original fee and, for businesses on custom pricing, there may be additional fees for issuing the refund itself.

Tax is especially important. A payment amount may include sales tax or VAT that you must remit; the processing fee applies to the total charge, but the tax portion is not your revenue. Do not treat the net figure as profit.

Accuracy, privacy and limits

The calculator runs entirely in your browser. It does not connect to Stripe, read your account or create a charge. The amount and currency stay in the page and are not saved. Reloading resets the form. Because Stripe does not have monthly fees or setup fees, you only need to concern yourself with the per-transaction costs shown here.

The presets are stored values, not a live feed. Stripe pricing varies by country and can change. Treat the output as a planning estimate and confirm the actual fee in your Stripe dashboard or the current pricing page for your region.

Pricing a product or invoice

Start with the price you want the customer to see, then use Charging mode to see the net. If the net is below your target margin, raise the price and recalculate. For a service business, include the cost of delivery, tax and your time before deciding that the net is acceptable. Remember that if a customer requests a refund later, the processing fees are not returned, which can impact your bottom line.
