What the UGC NET examination is

The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test is conducted by the National Testing Agency for Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor eligibility. It is held in computer-based mode, usually twice a year, and the application starts with a registration form that includes a photograph and signature upload. Those two files are checked before the form is accepted, so a correctly sized image prevents a last-minute correction window problem.

Photo and signature preset used by the tool

The table shows the stored values applied when UGC NET is selected. These are working presets in the tool, not a live copy of the current information bulletin.

DocumentSizeFormatFile weightResolution
Photograph3.5 x 4.5 cmJPEG10 KB to 200 KB200 DPI
Signature300 x 100 px, running handJPEG4 KB to 50 KB96 DPI

The information bulletin for your session is the authority. If it gives a different dimension, weight, or resolution, follow the bulletin and use this table only as a starting point.

How to use the resizer

  1. Choose UGC NET in the exam selector so the photo and signature presets load.
  2. Upload a recent colour photograph taken against a plain light background, facing the camera with a neutral expression.
  3. Crop the face inside the 3.5 x 4.5 cm frame, keeping the head centred and both ears visible where the photo allows.
  4. Switch to the signature tab, upload a scan made in running hand on white paper, and crop to 300 x 100 px without cutting the strokes.
  5. Check the estimated weight, download each JPEG, and reopen it to confirm the format, dimensions, and file size.

Photo and signature advice

A phone photo can work if the light is even and the face is sharp. Stand in front of a plain wall, avoid overhead light that casts shadows under the eyes, and do not use a filter or a heavily cropped selfie. For the signature, sign naturally with a black or blue pen, leave the paper unlined, and scan at a modest resolution. The signature should look like the one you will use on the attendance sheet, not a typed or traced copy.

Common mistakes and tool limits

Do not stretch a small photo to reach the required frame, and do not sharpen a blurred scan until the edges look artificial. The tool crops, resizes, converts, and compresses; it cannot fix a closed eye, a shadow across the face, or an incomplete signature. It also cannot confirm that the NTA portal will accept the upload. Keep the original files until your application is submitted and the correction window, if any, has closed.

Frequently Asked Questions

常见问题解答

针对用户在信任结果之前常提出的疑问,提供简短解答。

The stored preset is 3.5 x 4.5 cm, JPEG, 10 KB to 200 KB at 200 DPI. The current information bulletin remains the authority for your session.

The stored signature preset is 300 x 100 px in JPEG, 4 KB to 50 KB, signed in running hand on plain paper.

Use a recent photograph that still looks like you. An old image with a different hairstyle or appearance can cause an identity mismatch at the centre.

No. You sign on paper first, then upload a scan or clear photo of that signature. The tool only crops, resizes, converts, and compresses it.

A thick pen, heavy pressure, or a low-resolution scan can make the strokes merge. Sign normally with a fine pen and scan at a clean, moderate resolution.

No. It produces a file at the stored preset, but the portal and the examination authority decide whether the upload is acceptable. Always verify the current bulletin.
