CME Group to Add Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap Futures on October 19

CME Group plans to launch Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap futures

CME Group said Tuesday it plans to add Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap futures to its regulated offerings, with trading set to begin on October 19 pending regulatory review. The new contracts would bring CME's single-asset crypto futures lineup to 11 products, alongside Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, Solana, Cardano, Chainlink, Stellar, Avalanche, and Sui.

The exchange will offer both standard-sized contracts and smaller micro versions, giving traders more flexibility in how much exposure they take on.

Contract specifications

  • Bitcoin Cash futures: standard contracts represent 250 BCH; micro contracts cover 25 BCH.
  • Uniswap futures: standard contracts cover 10,000 UNI; micro contracts cover 1,000 UNI.
  • Both products will trade in a regulated, around-the-clock venue.

CME's expanding crypto product lineup

BCH and UNI are the latest additions to CME's growing crypto suite. The exchange rolled out Cardano, Chainlink, and Stellar futures in February, followed by Avalanche and Sui in April (which launched May 4). CME said its 2026 expansion into those five altcoins has generated more than $1 billion in total notional value year-to-date.

Across the entire crypto complex, CME reported that futures and options averaged 279,800 contracts per day in the first half of 2026, representing $8.3 billion in notional volume, with average open interest of 264,600 contracts, or $15.4 billion.

Industry reactions

Giovanni Vicioso, CME's global head of cryptocurrency products, said the new contracts respond to demand from market participants who need "broader, regulated tools to navigate evolving digital asset related price risk." He described the contracts as built for capital efficiency and exposure to "key crypto networks" within a regulated venue.

Justin Young, CEO and co-founder of Volatility Shares, called the addition "another important step in the continued expansion of CME Group's crypto futures offering," saying it gives clients more ways to access these assets within a regulated framework.

Noel Kimmel, president of Ripple Prime, said institutions managing crypto exposure "need around-the-clock access to regulated derivatives, underpinned by the clearing and financing infrastructure to match."

Why it matters

Bitcoin Cash split off from Bitcoin in 2017 and was designed for faster, cheaper payments. Uniswap operates the largest decentralized exchange in crypto, and its token UNI is used for governance, allowing holders to vote on protocol upgrades. Adding both to CME's regulated futures market gives institutional and retail traders more options to manage price risk on these networks through a traditional financial venue.

What happens next

If regulatory review proceeds on schedule, Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap futures will begin trading on October 19, becoming CME's tenth and eleventh single-asset crypto futures products.
