CME Group to list Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap futures on Oct. 19

Futures for Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap are set for Oct. 19

CME Group said on Sept. 22 that it plans to list futures for Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap on Oct. 19. The launch is still subject to regulatory review.

Futures are contracts that let traders manage or take on the risk of an asset's future price. CME said these two contracts would bring its number of single-token crypto futures to eleven. Seven of those would have been added this year.

Sizes, values and current CME listings

  • Bitcoin Cash futures are planned at 250 BCH per contract, with a smaller Micro contract at 25 BCH.
  • Uniswap futures are planned at 10,000 UNI per contract, with a Micro contract at 1,000 UNI.
  • At Tuesday's prices, the standard contracts carried a notional value in the high five figures: about $78,500 for BCH and about $89,400 for UNI.
  • CME already lists single-token futures on Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, Solana, Cardano, Chainlink, Stellar, Avalanche and Sui.
  • CME said its crypto futures and options averaged 279,800 contracts a day in the first half of 2026, worth $8.3 billion in notional value, with average open interest of 264,600 contracts, or $15.4 billion.

What CME said about the two new contracts

The announcement came in a CME Group press release dated Sept. 22. "As crypto markets continue to mature, participants require broader, regulated tools to navigate evolving digital asset related price risk," said Giovanni Vicioso, CME Group's global head of cryptocurrency products. "Designed for greater versatility and capital efficiency, these new BCH and UNI contracts allow clients to manage price risk and gain exposure to key crypto networks within our 24/7, regulated marketplace."

CME said its existing single-token futures are cash-settled, meaning the contract is settled in cash rather than by handing over the actual token, using CME CF reference rates run by CF Benchmarks. The exchange said reference rates are already published for both Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap at 4 p.m. London time. Contract specifications for the new BCH and UNI futures have not been posted yet.

How the two tokens traded this week

According to CoinGecko, Bitcoin Cash traded at $314.13 on Tuesday, up 17.5% over 24 hours and 39.8% over seven days, with a market value of $6.31 billion on $684.4 million of daily volume. The report noted that Bitcoin Cash forked from Bitcoin in 2017 over block size, and that 20.09 million of its 21 million coins are in circulation.

Uniswap traded at $8.94, up 1.2% on the day and 39.4% over the week, with a market value of $5.55 billion on $1.17 billion of daily volume. Most of UNI's weekly gain came before the CME announcement.

Uniswap holds $3.83 billion in total value locked, or the value of assets deposited in its protocol, according to DefiLlama. Of that, $2.57 billion sits on Ethereum, $472 million on Base and $273 million on Robinhood Chain, where Uniswap's onchain token sale tool went live this month. A temperature check, a non-binding step in the project's decision process, to extend Uniswap protocol fees to Arc was posted to its governance forum on Sept. 22.

What is confirmed

CME Group announced plans to list Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap futures on Oct. 19, pending regulatory review. The contract sizes, the current list of single-token futures, the trading and open interest averages for the first half of 2026, and the use of CME CF reference rates come from the exchange. The price, volume, market value and total value locked figures come from CoinGecko and DefiLlama as reported.

What is still unclear

The launch is not final until regulatory review is complete, and CME has not yet posted the contract specifications for the BCH and UNI futures. CME did not say when that review might finish. Separately, the proposal to extend Uniswap protocol fees to Arc was posted as a temperature check, which the source does not describe as approved or decided.

Why this matters for crypto market participants

CME already runs regulated crypto derivatives, and the exchange says the new contracts give clients a way to manage price risk and gain exposure inside a regulated marketplace. The pace of new listings has sped up: CME added Solana and XRP futures in 2025, its first single-token contracts beyond Bitcoin and Ether, and said the five tokens it added in 2026 — ADA, LINK, XLM, AVAX and SUI — have traded more than $1 billion in notional value since listing. Avalanche and Sui futures were announced in April and went live May 4, while Cardano, Chainlink and Stellar futures were announced in February.
