GTA 6 Trailer Mention Sparks Unofficial Dacity Coin Token on Solana

A coin name in the GTA 6 trailer set off a real-world token

The Grand Theft Auto 6 launch trailer briefly mentioned a "Dacity Coin," and crypto traders are now guessing how big a role the fictional coin will play in the game. Some think it will show up in a few side missions. Others think players will be able to trade it inside the game.

In response, traders created an unofficial meme coin with the same name on Solana, a blockchain network. A meme coin is a cryptocurrency based on an internet joke or trend rather than a serious project. The unofficial token has no official connection to the game or to its maker, Rockstar.

The token rose to a peak market capitalization of $15 million, according to the source. Market capitalization is the total value of all the coin's units at the current price.

Key points

  • The GTA 6 trailer briefly mentioned a "Dacity Coin."

  • Traders built an unofficial Solana meme coin of the same name, with no official link to the game.

  • The token reached a peak market capitalization of $15 million.

  • Traders say they are betting on how important Dacity Coin will be in GTA 6.

  • One trader is shown with $285,000 in unrealized profits from a $20,000 investment, per the trading platform Pump.fun. Unrealized means the gain is only on paper until the position is sold.

  • Rockstar did not respond to a request for comment.

What the trailer and a leak showed

In the official launch trailer, a wing walker sets off a smoke bomb on top of a plane covered in Dacity Coin branding. That led some traders to think the coin could appear in more than one mission, with the player asked to perform stunts to push the token's value up.

A leaked gameplay clip released more than a week earlier by a hacker known as "Cyberleek" appears to show a mission tied to the coin. According to the GTA wiki, the protagonist Lucia is asked to parachute as a stunt to attract investment to Dacity Coin. In a leaked screenshot, someone tells Lucia by phone, "Give them a show. They'll buy Dacity Coin before they even know what it is."

Dacity Coin also appears linked to an in-game brand called AudaCity, which shows up alongside the coin in both the leak and the trailer. Per the GTA wiki, AudaCity appears to be the company behind the coin.

Two different theories among traders

Pseudonymous meme coin trader Nicstho told Decrypt that the common theory is that some missions will involve Dacity Coin, with Lucia promoting it to earn money.

Nicstho said the more bullish view is that Dacity Coin works as an in-game currency that can be spent in both single-player and multiplayer. He said that would be significant for the real-world Solana token, even though there is no official link between the two.

Pseudonymous trader Corey Ape told Decrypt that players might be able to trade the coin the way they traded stocks in GTA V. In GTA V's single-player story mode, players could invest in stocks, and investment guides were built around that feature. Corey Ape said this is only his gut instinct, based on Rockstar having set that precedent in the earlier game.

Nicstho also noted that the real-world coin was not launched by Rockstar, saying the game maker's aim was to get attention from meme coin traders.

What is confirmed

  • The GTA 6 launch trailer briefly mentioned Dacity Coin and showed Dacity Coin branding on a plane.

  • An unofficial Solana meme coin of the same name exists and reached a $15 million peak market capitalization, according to the source.

  • The Solana token has no official ties to GTA 6 or Rockstar.

  • Rockstar did not respond to Decrypt's request for comment.

What is still unclear

How much Dacity Coin will actually feature in GTA 6 is not confirmed. The idea that it will be a fully tradable in-game asset, or that it can be spent in single-player and multiplayer, is trader speculation, not official information. The claim about profits is also only on paper: unrealized gains are not realized and could fall sharply at any moment, as is common with meme coins. The leaked mission details come from an unofficial leak and are described through the GTA wiki.

Why it matters

The episode shows how quickly traders can build a real crypto token around a name that appears in a major game trailer, even when the game's maker has not launched or endorsed anything. Because the two coins share a name and nothing else, the value of the Solana token depends on guesses about the game rather than on any confirmed link.

Who is waiting for November

Some crypto traders are waiting for GTA 6's November release, hoping it will lift the value of the token they hold.
