The education rules differ by subject. Here is the short version:

• English & Mathematics Teacher: M.A/M.Sc. in the subject with 50% marks at graduation level, plus B.Ed with that subject as compulsory. Or graduation (including B.Ed) with 50% marks and 55% in the subject. TET pass is a must.


• Hindi, Political Science, History, Economics: Master's degree in the subject with at least 50% marks, B.Ed with 50% marks, and TET pass. You should also be able to teach in both Hindi and English.


• SC/ST/OBC relaxation: Up to 5% relaxation in marks. Reserved category candidates from other states are treated as General (UR) with no reservation or fee concession.

Selection Process — HPRCA Teacher Recruitment 2026

Selection happens in two stages:

• Written screening test: This is a Computer Based Test (CBT). If fewer candidates apply, an OMR-based test may be used instead. Scores from multiple shifts are normalised using the Z-Score method.


• Document verification: Shortlisted candidates bring original certificates. At this stage you give your department and district preferences in writing. Posting is decided by merit, option and post availability.

Qualifying marks: 45% for General, 40% for SC/ST/OBC/Wards of Freedom Fighters. The Aayog can lower these by up to 5% if not enough candidates qualify. A waiting panel stays valid for one year.
