LO:TECH Raises $12 Million to Expand Institutional Crypto Trading to U.S. and Asia
LO:TECH secures $12 million for global expansion
London-based crypto market maker LO:TECH has raised $12 million in a Series A funding round. A market maker is a firm that provides liquidity by constantly being ready to buy or sell assets to ensure smooth trading. The company plans to use the new capital to expand its operations into the United States and the Asia-Pacific region.
The funding round was led by MMC. Other participants included existing investors Faction and 13 Books Capital, along with Atka. Following this investment, the firm intends to establish a physical presence in New York and Singapore to grow its institutional trading business.
Key details of the investment
- The $12 million Series A round was led by MMC.
- LO:TECH plans to open offices in New York and Singapore.
- Revenue has tripled and headcount has doubled since August 2025.
- The firm already provides liquidity on exchanges like Binance, Bybit, OKX, and Hyperliquid.
New trading services and regulatory status
LO:TECH announced that it launched execution services for traditional, digital, and prediction markets on November 2. However, the company told CoinDesk that this launch is currently limited to its existing activities. These activities include proprietary trading—where a firm trades using its own money—and providing liquidity in digital asset markets.
The firm is currently preparing a regulatory application for its services. It stated that it will not offer regulated trading services until it receives official approval. The company is also exploring the necessary licenses required to operate within the United States.
The focus on tokenized assets
LO:TECH is focusing on the market for tokenized traditional assets, such as stocks. Tokenization involves turning a traditional asset into a digital token on a blockchain, which is a secure digital ledger. The company believes there is a gap in the market for 24-hour trading of these assets.
Current research from the World Federation of Exchanges shows that traditional stock exchanges still drive price discovery for tokenized stocks. This means that when prices for tokens and actual shares differ, the token prices usually move to match the traditional stock market. Other companies, including the oracle provider Chainlink, have also recently introduced tools to provide pricing for tokenized assets during weekends and holidays.
