MEXC to End Services for Users in Russia and Belarus
MEXC will stop serving Russia and Belarus users
Crypto exchange MEXC announced on Oct. 20 that it will discontinue services for users in Russia or Belarus. An exchange is a platform where people trade cryptocurrencies.
The company said the decision is tied to efforts to improve global compliance — meaning meeting the rules that apply in the places it operates.
MEXC did not give one common date for trading to end or for withdrawals to be completed. Instead, it said affected customers will get individual notifications with their own timelines and steps for closing positions and taking out assets.
Key details of the announcement
- MEXC announced the change on Oct. 20, citing global compliance.
- Affected users will receive individual notices with deadlines and procedures for closing positions and withdrawing assets.
- There is no single trading cutoff or withdrawal deadline for all affected users.
- Users who have not received a notice are not affected and can keep using MEXC under its terms of service.
- MEXC said instructions will arrive by registered email and in-app messages, and that “Your assets remain secure.”
What MEXC told users directly
In a post on its verified X account, MEXC said the instructions would come through registered email and messages inside its app. It also said users should contact customer service with questions about their account status or the steps involved.
The exchange warned that it would never ask for payments, account login details, seed phrases, or asset transfers through private messages. A seed phrase is a set of words used to recover a crypto wallet. MEXC told users to check only its official website, app, Announcement Center, and verified social channels for updates.
Russia and Belarus already listed as restricted
MEXC’s user agreement, marked as last updated Oct. 13, names Russia and Belarus as prohibited jurisdictions. It states that MEXC does not offer services or accept registrations or trading applications in those countries, and that users must not be residents of prohibited jurisdictions.
What is confirmed
MEXC has announced it will end services for users in Russia and Belarus. Affected users will be contacted individually with their own deadlines. Users without a notice are unaffected for now. MEXC has not named a specific regulator, sanctions measure, or licensing action behind the decision, and it did not say how many accounts are affected.
What is still unclear
The announcement does not set a shared end date for trading or a shared withdrawal deadline, so the exact timing depends on each user’s notice. MEXC also did not explain a precise cause, and the number of affected accounts was not disclosed.
Bitget took a similar step days earlier
The MEXC move follows Bitget’s Oct. 17 announcement that it would discontinue services for certain users. Bitget described its closures as “a one-off exercise for certain users only” and said individual notices would set out deadlines and withdrawal arrangements. Bitget’s current terms also list Russia and Belarus as prohibited countries.
Why this matters
Users in the two countries may need to move funds and close open trades on a schedule set by the exchange rather than a public date. The lack of a single deadline means affected customers should watch their email and in-app messages for their own instructions.
