Vacancy Details and Who Can Apply — OPSC Assistant Section Officer 2026

What Education You Need: You must hold a Bachelor's Degree in any subject from a recognised University or equivalent. You also need adequate Computer Application knowledge as mentioned in the Schedule. Read and check your photo size with our OPSC Photo and Signature Resizer before you upload files.

You must speak, read and write Odia. You must also meet one prescribed Odia qualification. Transgender candidates can apply. Only the date of birth on your High School Certificate or equivalent will be accepted.

Who Cannot Apply: Children of Ex-servicemen cannot use Ex-servicemen vacancies. SEBC certificates issued before 10 November 2023 will not count. An OBC certificate will not work for SEBC vacancies. Ex-Servicemen already in regular State Government civil jobs will get age relaxation only, not reservation.

Selection Process — OPSC Assistant Section Officer 2026

OPSC will first hold a written exam. It has three papers and carries 400 marks in total. Every question is multiple-choice and carries 1 mark. You will lose 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

Minimum marks in each paper are 35% for UR/SEBC, 30% for SC/ST and 28% for PwD. After the written exam, OPSC will shortlist about 1.5 times the vacancies for a Computer Skill Test. That test is qualifying only and you need at least 40% marks. Final merit will be based on your total written marks out of 400. If there is a tie, Paper-I General Knowledge marks will decide, then age.

Step 1: Open https://www.opsc.gov.in and open the application link.
Step 2: Register and fill your form between 9 November 2026 and 30 November 2026 till 5:00 PM.
Step 3: Pay Rs 700 online if you are not SC, ST or PwD.
Step 4: Upload your category, sports, Ex-Servicemen and Odia certificates if you claim them. Use our OPSC Application Form Checker to review your details.
Step 5: Add your bank account number, IFSC, name and branch for refund.
Step 6: Submit one application only. Multiple applications will be rejected.

Keep your SEBC certificate issued on or after 10 November 2023, PwD certificate, Sports Identity Card from Director of Sports Odisha, Ex-Servicemen certificate and Odia pass certificate ready if needed.
