SEI Perpetual Futures Now Trade on CFTC-Regulated OG.com Markets
SEI futures hit a U.S.-regulated exchange for the first time
SEI perpetual futures are now trading on OG.com Markets, a CFTC-regulated exchange operated by the North American Derivatives Exchange (Nadex). The launch gives U.S. traders a regulated venue to take leveraged positions on Sei, a blockchain designed for fast trading.
The contract self-certified with the CFTC on October 8, and the exchange targeted October 12 for listing. Trade logs show the first executions occurred on October 16 at 4:54 a.m. ET, with two trades of 100 SEI each.
How the contract works
- Settles in U.S. dollars with no expiration date, so traders can hold positions without rolling into a new contract.
- Minimum order size is 100 SEI contracts.
- Funding payments between long and short holders are calculated every eight hours to keep the futures price aligned with the CF Sei-Dollar Spot Rate, administered by CF Benchmarks.
- The maximum funding rate is 2% per eight-hour interval in either direction.
- The contract settles twice daily at noon and 5 p.m. ET.
- Initial margin ranges from 15% to 30% across OG.com's crypto-perpetual product line; no SEI-specific percentage was listed.
Sei calls it another regulated access point
Sei highlighted the listing on X, calling it "Another regulated way to access $SEI." OG.com's launch notification groups SEI alongside BTC, ETH, SOL, HYPE, and ZEC.
Part of a broader push for U.S.-regulated perpetuals
The listing follows Kraken's June launch of U.S.-regulated perpetual futures through Bitnomial, which also uses an eight-hour funding cycle. Kraken's initial launch included BTC, ETH, SOL, and XRP among nine assets.
What remains unclear
The exact margin requirement for SEI specifically has not been disclosed. OG.com's general notification sets a range of 15% to 30% across its crypto-perpetual lineup but does not assign a SEI-specific figure.
Why this matters
U.S. traders have limited access to regulated crypto derivatives. Perpetual futures allow leveraged exposure to an asset without a fixed expiry, making them popular on offshore exchanges. A CFTC-regulated venue like OG.com offers a compliant alternative for American investors seeking SEI exposure.
