Strive buys 1,800 Bitcoin for $143 million, now fifth-largest corporate holder
Strive, a publicly traded asset manager, bought 1,800 Bitcoin (BTC) for about $143 million between August 24 and August 28, CEO Matt Cole confirmed. The purchase increases the company’s total holdings to 23,156 BTC, making it the fifth-largest publicly traded corporate holder of Bitcoin.
Purchase details
Strive paid an average price of $79,431 per Bitcoin, including fees. This follows a previous purchase of 1,110 BTC the week before for roughly $81.5 million at an average price of $73,409 per coin.
The latest buy grew Strive’s Bitcoin holdings by about 8.4% in five business days, according to Adam Livingston, an adviser to Saturn Credit.
Market context
The purchases came as Bitcoin and the broader crypto market rebounded. Bitcoin rose over 23% since August 19, reaching a recent high above $81,000, partly driven by U.S. Treasury plans to expand long-term bond buybacks, which lowered Treasury yields and boosted risk assets.
Other companies are also increasing their Bitcoin holdings. Strategy, the largest corporate Bitcoin holder, resumed purchases on August 31, buying 4,603 BTC for about $370 million at an average price of $80,318.
